I'm sure this has been done before around here, but hey, I'm bored.
Post your ideas for rooms in a Minecraft castle. Either add your own or append previous entries with your own twists on it.
- Workshop - Duh. I usually line the room with chests and workbenches, and a wall of furnaces. Also includes a small lava fireplace to dump unwanted items.
- Enchanting Room - With an enchanting table and bookcases. Usually black carpet and some netherrack "bonfire" blocks.
- Alchemy Lab - With brewing stands, chests for ingredients and a water trough (the cauldron is pretty pointless if you just build a 1x3 water stripe and pull from the middle.
- Armory - Chests to keep swords, bows and arrows, usually a lot of bars around.
- Treasury - A small, enclosed room to contain the gold and gems.
- Kitchen - White and grey checkerboard floor, counters (plank blocks) with a workbench and a food chest. I also build an oven (build a 3x4 square of stone, place netherrack inside, light it, and put glass in front of the fire.
- Bedroom - Usually has just a bed and a nice large bay window overlooking the front courtyard.
- Archery Room - A large 6x6 target of red and white wool in the shape of a target against one wall, a 1-deep trench along a completely unlit wall, fenced in, for live target practice when monsters spawn, and a water gate to sweep all the drops out.
- Kennel - To keep the pooches. Usually very high up in the tower so their barking doesn't drive you bonkers.
- Aquarium - A room with a large wall containing a big expanse of water, for squids to spawn in. A ladder along the side so you can plunge in and hunt them for their ink. Doubles as a fishin' hole.
- Portal Room -- I actually have my Nether Portal as the entrance to my Enchanting Room, but you can also use a separate room to contain it.
- Redstone Lab -- A very large room for prototyping your redstone circuits. Complete with scaffolding (ladders and 1-wide stone walkways) surrounding the area every few squares high.
- Barn -- To keep the livestock. Chicken pit, cow/pig corral, etc.
- Trophy Hall -- Just a large room containing cool stuff. I usually make a few lava pillars (empty lava bucket right at the ceiling, and then encase it in glass), diamond pillars (silk touch a few of the blocks, and stack them in the middle of a 3x3 plank platform), lava or water under a glass floor, chandeliers, and so forth.
- Tower Turret -- Low enough to pick off monsters wandering around at night.
- Ballroom -- Wooden floor, arrangement of music boxes, etc.
- Dungeon -- Large pit for monster spawn/fighting, dark cells for monster generation (so you can open them and let them have it)
- Minecart Station -- with opening redstone doors for travelling outside or down into the depths.
- Automatic Armorer Machine -- A narrow hallway, lined with dispensers and pressure plates. The dispenser dispenses a piece of armor, so you start out unarmored and come out the other side with a full suit.
- Conservatory -- For growing all of your plants and so forth.
i like the ideas in theory but i have done the seperate rooms like that and spend too much time walking back and forth. My last several maps I'll take a wide ravine and use the middle for underground forest farms etc. side rooms contain everything else. The priority is to keep everything tight. Like the portal area is next to potion area for nether wart etc.
