This is the same as just going into creative to enchant. Takes the challenge out of enchanting. Part of the fun is the randomness factor. I duplicated on my first ever world and after that it was no longer fun. It just seems silly to use this.
Iv'e used this once and still been having fun on that world.
Maybe its just you? Ever thought about that?
Once again your not wrong either I do see it taking out some what skill of doing it yourself.
It makes minecraft easier I should say. And the Harder it is the fun It gets.
Same with Dupe. If you dupe diamond, theres no need to go undergound.
If you have a blaze spawner construct a blaze farm, exp then is pretty easy to get, takes me less then 10 mins to get level 30. Granted its a pain to construct and really helps if you have friends to kill the blaze while you construct it but once its done will benefit all who play on that server with unlimited blaze rods and soon glowstone dust as well as really good exp.
I built mine based on etho's which uses pistons to push the blazes down to a chamber, which then weakens them so a single punch kills them.
I use this method all the time, and love it. Some people may call it cheating, or cheapening the gameplay by taking the randomness out of enchanting, but not me. I want the enchantments I want, and don't see the point in wasting 30 levels of experience by getting a sucky enchantment. I personally think you should be able to pick and choose which enchantment you buy with your XP, but to each his own.

That's your privilege if you're playing on your own or in a world where it is agreed that everyone can do it. Minecraft is a creative game with rules that you and your friends can make up and "set" for yourself. As long as you remain true to the rules you set (whatever they are) and fair with each other, it's not cheating, IMO. If you're playing alone and whatever you're doing feels like you're "cheating" yourself, then to do is IS cheating yourself. If you're playing in a friend's world who consiiders it to be cheating and you do it, you're definitely cheating (and also disrespecting them). It's really that simple.
I do this the rare occasions I'm playing solo, but that never happens anymore :/ Now I just have a chest in the library full of failed level 30 enchantments. My buddy got a fortune 1 diamond picaxe once Level 30 enchantment. We laughed so hard.

Its like the first time you go up against the elite four. also the way you decipher what it is by learning a little thing called "galatic trade language" or "galactic language" i dont remember. (or just do what i did and make a key for the letters in the galactic language)
Isn't Anvils new? why the hell would it be in our server?
Inform me if im wrong
no they are not in the game. yes they are fairly new but 4j has added things from 1.3 in our 1.8 update. so they could add it at anytime. imo it would make things too easy

Well, will just have to wait and see.
I do say tho, I can't wait to see how this game runs on another year from now.

If I read the Original Post right, we weren't talking about playing on a friends world. We were talking about saving your own game before trying to get the enchantments you wanted. I assumed that was what was being referred to as cheating. And I disagreed with that notion. If I misunderstood the original post,I apologize, but I don't think I did.

I think I only 're-roll' because it's diamonds. Experience is easy to come by, especially with the skeleton spawner I have 'converted'. If I were using Iron tools for enchanting, I'd probably just 'lava bin' them if I wasn't happy.
what I found out is that you can just keep enchanting stuff once the book gets up to lvl 30 I dont know if this works in servival though.

No, it doesn't. In survival, only the enchants offered that are less than the XP you have in your "bank" are active. As you enchant each item, your XP in the "bank" is decreased by the price of the enchant you've made. Creative allows you to keep going, but survival doesn't.

I felt the OPs post really didn't clearly specify, so I was basically supporting your idea while adding a few qualifiers into the general discussion. It is certainly OK to use any feature offered by the game in a world by yourself (as long as you yourself feel OK about it). I do disagree with those "others" you mentioned who arbitrarily call it cheating and pass harsh judgement on anyone who uses certain features of the game at any time. The result is frequently that it makes certain players afraid to feel OK about using certain features of the game even for the purposes they are intended (e.g. creative mode) I love that you love how you play the game - games are meant to enjoyable for the people playing them... not riddled with anxst over how a bunch of "others" on the internet might feel about using certain features built right into the game itself.
Why are people going to level 30 to get silk touch? 26 is the sweet spot a quick search of the wiki and the links there in would have revealed this handy website http://www.minecraft-enchantments.net/en/item/15
Although, I prefer not to have silk touch. My pick has efficiency 3, Fortune 2 and unbreaking 3 . . .can't ask for much better really.
What's better than that, though, is a pick with LOOTING. Then, you get a lot more of most resources, excluding anything that becomes is an ore BLOCK when mined.
Figured this out on my own. I wouldnt re-load with iron tools of course. Just take whatever I get. Getting exp is still time consuming, and sinking thirty exp into a diamond tool warrants re-loading until you get what you need. I've noticed tools degrade faster now, or maybe its because I play on hard mode, but my diamond picks don't last as long as they used to even with unbreaking 3

Although, what happens when you join someones server and you cant save and quit for every level 30 enchant???
You use Iron. :-)
