I was just wondering how other minecrafters keep there hotbars at all times for me its
Bow,Sword,Torches,Pickaxe,Bucket O water, useless block,Food, and the rest are free space what about u guys?
P.s from left to right
It changes depending on what I'm doing and what difficulty it's on.
If I'm playing on peaceful I don't bother with a sword. Otherwise it's usually: torch, pickaxe, sword, block (usually cobblestone or dirt), gravel, food, and random for the rest. If I'm building something, it's full of blocks except for torches.

wouldn't u Carrey a sword when building in case a creeper wants to (give u a hand?)
I keep torches and food at the opposite end of my tools and swords so I can switch between the two quickly by just hitting RB to go from box 9 to box 1 where my sword is.
Where the * are is where I usually vary depending on the task.
When tree farming I have the axe on me and what ever saplings I need after that.
When building, Where the axe up to the dirt are used for building materials.
Caving/Mining; Axe up to cobble is usually other things, possibly map if I need to use coordinates. Ladders, water bucket, planks(or similar with stairs & slabs), and what ever else I want to bring with me to do this.
Hot bar can vary a lot, sometimes I have pick and sword reversed and a map after.
Other than that I usually keep a good inventory for certain tasks, to switch readily. Like pumpkin lanterns in place of torches while building sometimes and still switch between the two when needed(and any other light thing)
That pretty much is it.:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I find that when I am mining this is a great way to organize it. That way I am fast to switch from my pickaxe to a torch, or water or stone in case of lava.
Sword, Pick, Torch, Bow,_,_,_,_, Steaks (at far right) is my permenant set up. The open fluctuates depending on what I'm doing.
When I'm mining or caving my water bucket always goes next to my steaks & shovel gets added to the right of the bow. Besides some wood not in the hot bar (always upper right corner though)..., I clear my inventory beonce setting out to mine or cave. Once i start gathering cobble, I'll put it next to the water for when I need a block though.
Weapon, pick, shovel, bow, building block, water, blank, food, torches.
Maps, clocks, and junk pop in slot 7 every now and then. They usually are too shy, though....

The rest usually stay empty unless I have a bucket with me. Like I said, I rarely ever organize.

Eh, I just deal with it. It usually blows up on me anyways, so I just have the tools on hand to rebuild quickly.
Most times though I usually have:
Torch|Sword|Pick|Axe*|*|*|Cobble*|Dirt*|Food

Im always full on items.
So my hotbar is always a mess
i keep mine pretty much like this, except i never use a bucket of water
