Well after building 4 Very large cites, space station, fortress and a few odds and ends i have ran out of room to build big projects except the tiny area northwest. How much room do you still have to build on?

Creepers are jealous of our hands and ability to clap.
I probably have about 99% of my world left to build on. As of now, I just build small near a village in a good area to work around. I probably won't go all out hardcore building until all the biome updates are done.
I don't build gigantic things in Survival, only in Creative. So on my survival worlds, my bases tend to be fairly small. On top of that, I consider myself to be quite the Dwarf because I like to build underground a lot. Especially after seeing The Hobbit and getting to see the inside of Erebor. So much inspiration.
Surface area only - about 1/8th (in my most built up world); including potential for ideas underground and underwater and in the air - probably about 1/75th or even 1/100th. It's the only world I've kept from way back. I tend to get bored with build themes long before the world is built up and regularly delete worlds so I can feel free to start fresh. Survival worlds tend to get deleted even more frequently (whenever I die or die three times at most).
i delete old maps when updates come out. I have built about 1% above ground in the two worlds im playing (hard survival) and about 10 times as much underground. Im really liking to take large ravines and caverns and turn them into a complete world underground. a small 20 block high pyramid is the typical entrance above ground.

This.
Other then that I have a House, an underground farming area, and a barn. All in a 4 chunk area. I've been thinking about building a minecart around the Nether as well as my own little fortress :o..
If you only use the surface to build you could fill it up without too much effort. Even then that would take a while. Once you start going underground where everything takes twice as long (since you have to get rid of blocks before you can place different ones) or under water where it can get complicated to do (on survival) then you really shouldn't be filling up maps too quickly.
I have lots of room on my old map... even though it is the most worked on, I have been mainly doing things in 1/9th of it working with my little kingdom. Have walls, but not much of a kingdom. That and haven't even began the other kingdoms I have in mind. I keep going back to it to add this and that or modify something, but really been primarily searching for a decent survival map that I would like. that is taking longer than filling the map up.
Very picky in the generation. --_--
It would take me quite a long time before I ever fill a map since I do things in survival mostly, granted in my old map it is in peaceful. Every other one is on easy.lol

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I usually get bored when I build in creative for a while. I like doing survival with friends but we usually don't build big structures. We do dig a lot underground though.
I have not played in days But after the update of TU7 I made a new map, and started working underground. Got me a semi auto wheat farm, along with a semi auto suger cane farm, and a small area for pumpkins unfortunately I have not seen any melon seeds in any of the mineshafts. :/ But I also have animals in another area and breed them. My chickens seem to escape somehow... I have nether fence with a gate in a small entrance wide enough for me to see the chickens, but small enough to only need 1 fence on each side and a gate in the middle. I had to much sheep once and they kept becoming ghosts and walking through walls only to be snapped back into the room.
I think I destroyed it to start building above ground, but stopped playing and started to play Black Ops 2 again.
But I have never ran out of room to build. i still have my very first map since MC was released for the xbox, and still build on it and it's not even 5% used up.
WOW! Is this your original map or a more recent one? I work constantly on my map in survival and only have a few things built. Maybe amount 1/25 of the map.
If you don't like the look of the nether, you could always teraform it to look like the overworld. It is a bit of a challenge, but doable.
But your beds will still explode.
I used beds to make my Nether castle's outside look like Hill 937 from the Vietnam War: fiery and cratered. It adds an extra obstacle to interlopers as well.

Relax, said the nightman, we're programmed to receive.
You can check out any time you like, but you can't ever leave!
on topic, you could always build in the nether
