Tape phone to button.
Set phone to vibrate.
Have someone text the phone every 10-15 minutes.
...wut. ._.
ha! I don't know how hard your phone vibrates but mine doesn't produce enough vibrations to accommodate to that plan... We are talking about phones "PHONES" right? o.O
And sad to say the just walking straight into a wall didn't do it either... I'm starting to think maybe..JUST maybe there is a glitch with the 15 Mins Intervals?
Well right now I have it set to an S shaped bedrock floor LEFT STICK POINTING NW AND RIGHT STICK POINTING SW MAKING THE CHARACTER WALKING CONTINUOUSLY within the S shape back and fourth.. PLUS i have the RIGHT TRIGGER pushed in. so hes constantly punching downwards at bedrock :D... If this doesn't work..... then I'm kicking the xbox.. But before that drastic measure I'm gonna try at 30min Intervals... Ugh! now all I gotta do is wait 30 mins between disappointments. AAHHHH!!!
I would pay 19.99mo for a server right about now.. Or! I can hire a midget/small child at below minimum wage to sit here and tap the A Button for 22hrs out of the day.. Of course the time off would be for the Xbox not the midget/child.

SORRY TO REPORT NOTHING WORKS...
It seems that auto save ( and believe me I tested it Extensively) Is activated only by going into the inventory and back out again.. I tried going into the credits, 30 min intervals, punching bedrock while walking and spinning, walking and spinning, walking, walking and sneaking... EVERYTHING... nothing works. But surely everytime I hit (Y) and then (B) Bam! auto save kicks in... If you found a way.. you're wrong you didn't It'll save once and then not again.. well sucks. hopefully an update fixes this... OUT!

This is weird though, I knew someone that had their world get griefed because of leaving their Xbox on all night for at least 8 hours with auto save on, every last thing that had been destroyed was saved. I'm pretty sure the host wouldn't have been saving himself either. I'm going to try sometime this week to see if it works for me, but last time I remember it did
I don't get how you are having issues. I had a friend who was away for a good 2 hours while I was working on stuff, while he was away it auto saved at the 15 min mark, and even after the first 15 it saved each every 15 minutes.. He was indeed the host, and in the party chat it did show away so I am so confused at this whole thing. I've even had it auto save when I was not playing while looking on YouTube on how to build certain devices. Bug perhaps then? Use your main xbox for the server and new xbox for main?

No problem is it does AutoSave Once! that's it.., after that no more,, until the host hits Y button and B to exit out of inventory then saves instantly.. It'll do it once, and that's it after that.. nothing.....Just ONCE! lol

I wonder if they made some changes to the autosave this last update or whenever they added the warning about it kicking in. We need to find some sort of device that will press "A" to open the inventory, then wait for a bit and then press "B" to close it. I wonder if a couple of bobbing birds can be somehow hooked up to a power source and a timer? (just kidding really - well, maybe not...)

I would be more worried about my console overheating or freezing leaving it on 24/7. But 24/7 xbox servers are a great idea, i wish there was a way to do it without having to leave a $200+ console that is known for cooling problems on, or at least save other player's inventories on the map. I always feel like a **** when I have to disconnect from my worlds.
you need something that spins or swings electrically, but won't just twist the stick. plug in a powerdrill (an old plug in one can be found for $10 bucks i'm betting) ON A VERY LOW SPEED attached to something gentle that is bigger than the stick and will make it revolve without twisting? Maybe set the drill on some kind of gentle swing so it moves back and forth and thus the spin will be uneven, causing stick tilt rather than a damaging twisting motion.
Maybe put him in an obsidian or bedrock (creative or survival?) walled room (that is your spawn point in case he dies somehow) mining straight down with him wandering. He'll randomly hit the floor and occasionally get a block.

Yeah some outside mechanical device is the only option, and as this is the "test" for my server.. I bought a 60$ box from craigslist.. And its done a great job so far.. My room stays super cool, and maybe i'll invest in a coolin fan, but thankfully its not a spinning disc.. I would def not leave it on 24/7 if it was...
But yeah guys... Seems an update will have to come and save the day at some point.

Minecraft not having a disc is a saving grace of this. It's not like Skyrim or fallout where I'm afraid my console is about to melt into goop on the table after a few hours of play.
I think they should look at revamping the whole server system. I don't think it'd be impossible to save player inventories in MC. It'd just be a gamertag linked list really, saved on the host's console. might not be possible to run 24/7 ever though on console.

4J is looking into having rentable servers. We know that it is possible as BF3 has this already.
@OP Yeah it is a bug and 4J knows about it and are working on fixing it.
Disregarded posts since my last one, probably should've looked.
An odd idea hit me last night, but again, I don't know...
Put the controller on a record and let it spin while the record goes around.
Make something positioned so the character twitch-walks every record rotation. O-o

(Wow, two page gets....)
After My hours of testing the only thing that activates auto-save is going into Inventory (Y) and then hitting [B] to exit out of it..
Not constant movement of any other kind. It might seem that way as you're walking about and it goes into Auto-Save as you're walking around.. But it seems to have been based on your last entry point into the Inventory and when you exited.. So there is some kind of correlation from the last time that happens to the time when it actually auto-saves.. Seriously gave me a headache last night...
I'm Sure everyone knows now but it autosaves while host is "idle".. THE UPDATE DID FIX THIS!!!. YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
..that is all.....
