So I looked this up on the forums and it was semi-answered, though didn't seem to help and there was no confirmation if it works...
So I set up an Xbox to run 24/7 with 15min interval on AutoSave.
I do have a Wireless controller with Charge&Play Kit. (so doesn't turn off)
I tried leaving the character just there..Idle. Doesn't AutoSave
Rigged it to where the character is spinning instead of Idle. Doesn't AutoSave (seems system thinks controller is stuck)
Rigged it to where the character is digging (RT Button). Doesn't AutoSave (seems system thinks controller is stuck)
The Power of Rubber Bands!
Also I let the Host character remain Dead without respawning as was suggested in a previous post and Didn't work....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those are the only ways I can think.. and Everytime, I take off the rubber band and take control of the Controller and move him a bit or jump and BAM! auto save begins...
Clearly the system thinks the controller is IDLE even while doing the same constant thing or a button/stick being held in a specific direction for an extended period of time..
I'm sure someone has figured out some kind of workaround... for this I so far cannot. Started trying it last night and after investing in an additional Gold Membership and 1600MS points I will figure it out!
Any help please?? I can't figure it out and not being able to Auto Save seems to defeat the whole purpose of what I'm trying to do. Which is simply have an active game me and my buddy can be part of regardless of which one of us is Online... and well..sucks.
:/
****Also note that myself and my buddy are active IN-GAME while all the scenarios above are played out. But it all seems dependent on what the HOST character is doing..

dont know much about this but from what ive read...
have you tried sitting in a cart thats on a loop ? if its a controller issue then you could also set it to moving forward whilst sat in the cart,
guessing your leaving the controller plugged in ?
Yes sir controller plugged in... And I'll try the "loopcart" thing when I'm off work.. It seems to be a controller issue, because either
A.) He's constantly spinning[stick held in ONE direction] or B.) Doing the digging Motion [ Right trigger Held Down]

If wolfe's idea doesn't work; perhaps you can rig up a mechanical device on a timer that would give the analog stick a short bump to move your character a little bit every 15 minutes? Perhaps one bump forward and then the next bump backward. I'd be sure to put your man in a safe room, though.

I thought about that being the only option.... seems so convoluted for such a simple issue.. Oh *sigh* If only redstone/pistons were real I'd have a whole tiny piston set up lol...
But, I'm sure there's gotta be another way....

It is due to a bug that will be fixed in TU8, If your profile goes to AWAY the game will not auto-save. For now, just rubber-band your controller so that it will never go to AWAY. It takes 10 minutes of not touching anything on the controller to go to AWAY.

A simple way to bump the analog in one direction and then the opposite might be to get a small motorized pendulum (i.e clock movement - garage sale item?) and set it up so that it just brushes the stick enough to move it a little with each swing back and forth. He'd be moving more frequently than I first suggested, but the motion wouldn't be steady (like spinning).

No it seems to still register it as AWAY even while rubber-banded and will not AutoSave.

Well, TU8 is right around the corner, I know it wont help now, but it might not be possible without some sort of motorized something to keep it moving in multiple directions.
To anyone interested.. my friend said if I tied the rubberband to the "left stick" to make the character "walk". It would then work.. instead of the right.. which only makes him spin..
I'll test it today and I'll report back to anyone interested... Unless anyone can test this while I'm at work and let me know if it works.. Thanks!!

Sorry, I'm not near my XBox either so can't test it right now for you. My only thought would be about what would happen when Steve runs out of space to walk in a straight line. Would the game also interpret that as the controller being stuck?... and you certainly don't want to leave him walking outside in the open where anything could happen to him.

I'm gonna test him just walking into a wall... see if it works.. If not I'm gonna put him on a water treadmill with like "sneak" on. So he's constantly moving towards the current.
But yeah def, not gonna be left alone in a field left to his own devices! lol

clock with a pendulum maybe? when it swings, it just ever so lightly taps the control stick. the bird thing above might work of you put the conrtoller behid him, as he needs the cup of water to do his trick in the first place. possible though!
not sure something like this even exists but I would think the best solution to be some kind of software based xbox controller emulation. i.e. plug xbox to pc and emulate an active controller through software.
I run a server quite often when im not home or in bed so I have put a little thought into this from time to time but I ultimately decided saving every x amount of time is hardly worth the trouble involved. The game rarely crashes out like that (for me anyway) so there is really no need to save every 15 minute. just my 2 cents.
I had another idea about using smartglass (which i am told relays commands through the internet and not directly from phone to console) and a webcam to remotely save/restart but I lost interest in the idea before i even tried it. pretty sure it wont work anyway. lol
I just turn off the system shut down time for being away for too long, and even if my controller goes to sleep it would still auto-save.
You may want to double check that its actually saving, because what you describe here does not work for anyone else. it keeps the system from shutting off but auto save will not occur if the controller is disconnected.

Yeah AUTO system shut off was disabled. and def Does not work....
Even with my wired controller that never turns off along with the system.. Doesn't auto save. :-/

So Far tried tying the left and right stick together causing the host character to move/walk in a circle.. NO LUCK.. tried walking and left bumper at the same time{scrolling hotbar}.. NO LUCK... now I'm trying literally just walking him straight into a wall.... we shall see what happens next...... o.O
P.s Also I'm gonna try the minecart loop techinique suggested last.. Since I'm trying to avoid using resources...
If none of these work.. I might invest in a hamster running on a wheel causing some kind of movement on the control.... Ha..... No, I'm serious.
