My world is a TU5 or TU6 world. I've been playing since September I think. I've actually never really even explored the Nether much more than a 100 radius or so.
A couple of questions:
1) If my chunks have never fully loaded for the Nether, does this mean it is possible I could have a Nether Fortress?
2) Is there any information leading to the possibility of Nether Bricks (the block) being craftable as it is in the PC version (as in a weekly update... and implemented in 1.5).
1) I believe that the Nether may generate when you first start a world. If it doesn't, you've already explored far too much of it to have any useful amount of a Nether Fortress spawn.
2)Nope. No information what so ever. That is so far off from what 4J is doing that I doubt they've even thought of it yet. Aside of course the hundreds of people that keep telling hem about it and asking for it.

I know they don't spawn on every map. In regards to the OP, if one had spawned in his Nether, he had already explored about a 1/3 of the Nether, which means his Nether fortress would have been severely butchered by the lack of space.That's because our Nether is so small, it decreases the chance of having a Nether Fortress by a ridiculous amount. Even one you do get one, it's almost always cut off at some point due to the size of the Nether.
4J decided that to make it better, they would change the coding for the terrain generation in the Nether, making it so that a Fortress always spawns and that it will always have Nether Wart and Blaze Spawners. That is coming in TU8, the bug fix.

2) there has been no official information put out by 4J stating that craft able nether brick will be added
