I'm having some troubles with beds more and more lately. I try to sleep, but everytime I activate it nothing shows up (even if its daytime) and it doesnt initiate sleep mode for me. Is anybody else having this problem?
I try and replace it moving it to different locations or making new beds, but to no avail. Usually it fixes itself after a period of time for some reason. Weird.
"Cannot sleep there is monsters nearby" message does not show up, but because this is 1.1 that is the reason for not being able to sleep. Might want to mob proof your house and the surrounding area.

nothing to do with the house not being well lit, but definitely the message not showing.
You probably have the same case that I had a while back. Where there are pockets of air underground nearby. In these small chambers mobs spawn and stop you from sleeping in your bed. Took me an expansion of the house underground to finally get that cut off.
The mobs tend to auto track within a certain range, even without line of sight, which I believe isn't implimented at the moment due to this. Would be nice to have such before they start tracking. For now there is nothing that can be done unless you find those small chambers that are under or near your bed underground; in that case all you would have to do is light those up or fill them in....

Hopefully small chambers - it's disheartening when you break a single block through a "chamber" wall and find an underground ravine on the other side.
Does the mobs message override the one that is supposed to say you can't sleep during the day? I think the OP is saying that he's not even getting the "you can only sleep in a bed at night" message now at all.

Hmm... good point. although I never had that specific one happening, as I always got that message, but not the nearby one. O_o
Could be an override, but more likely it got crossed in the mix somehow. Those two messages I mean. Hmm... Whom is to say, but regardless what I mentioned does stand due to the fact that sometimes when I was a bit far from that bed I am assuming the mobs despawned after a while. Eventually though they come back, till I broke that chamber...
I would have loved it if was a ravine I poked into, however not at the same time because that would mean a whole section of my desert would have done a fault line thing with all that sand...lol

Also another problem is i dont spawn in my bed even though my bed is not broken/misconstructed. I spawn in the original spawn not the bed =( why?
Have you slept through until dawn in your bed? I've found that if you prematurely get up from sleep, the spawn point does not reset to the bed. You have to allow the game to wake you when dawn arrives. Also, if you break the bed and even reset it in the exact same square, you must sleep until dawn in it again in order of the spawn to be re-acknowledged.

I've had friends use a bed in my servers just for safety reasons, mid-day, and it saved their spawn? Maybe it's different with TU7, but I think it was TU7 they did it in.

Lock thread? I've seen almost a hundred of these.
Strange... I just had it happen to me the other day. I started to sleep in a bed but woke myself up before dawn. I died a ltitle while later and respawned at the initial spawn instead of in the bed (which was still set exactly where it had been). After collecting my stuff, I then went back to the bed and made sure I slept in it until the game woke me up at dawn. I died again a little while after that, but that time did respawn at my bed. Thought for sure then that you had to sleep in a bed at least once through to dawn to set the spawn point.
Yeah I get no message saying that mobs are nearby. I never knew that you weren't able to sleep with nearby mobs, even if they under your floorboards, or underground lair floor. If mobs are sealed off even if they are close, I think you should still be able to sleep for they pose no threat whist on the other side of a stone wall. Mobs are pretty crafty sometimes, I've had lava in my walls for decoration as a buffer between rooms, apparently a skeleton spawned in that room while I was in the other, he apparently started firing flaming arrows at me and annihilated me while I was making food in the kitchen.

This has happened to me twice in the last week, since I updated to TU7. Like you said, it clears up after a couple minutes. On one occasion, I set about to do some random tasks indoors to pass the night away, only to realize quickly I had left my front door open. As soon as I closed it, it let me sleep... although I can't say for sure if that was because the door was open, or that it had just fixed itself in the minute or two between me trying to sleep, and finding the open door.

Unless this is a completely different sleeping/bed glitch than the one they're working on.

It's not a bad glitch and it's pretty funny.
