It's the same ol' tale of woe since the Internet started.
People love to be jerks without having to face reprocussions, and that's easy to do in the world of online gaming.
Why will I mess with you, rob you and antagonize you over the internet but I won't do it face to face?
Simple. Over the internet, you can't do anything about it. Face to face you'd probably knock my teeth out.
Hahaha, I've always understood this, but this is the best way I ever seen it put. Kudos! I can't stop getting little chuckles from it.
Maybe I smoked too much in life, but I love the peaceful ways over the internet. Heck, I've been nice to someone in a Minecraft world and they randomly gifted me a full set of iron armor. Nothing too much, but hey, 28 iron ingots (I think) all for me?! It made me happy :). Also, it builds a community where people help each other out. Say someone gets stuck without food in a deep mine. If we have a good community, I'd have no problem rushing them a nice amount of food. What comes around goes around
