Isnt he modding? look at his hotbar also he didnt get injured. at that close you would be majorly injured or dead. my sound was off so idk if he explained how he has done that stuff.
No we're on Xbox version 1.3, or PC equivalent 1.0.1.

While his game is clearly modded, as he takes no fall damage at all, it can be done in completely vanilla (unmodded) Minecraft. The water absorbs most of the damage from the TNT.
One of the few things that Minecraft comes close to doing correct when it comes to real world physics.
And also what version are we on right now? I think its 1.8.2 but im not sure... And how can I check this?
