I don't know if this would belong in the bug thread or not but I have noticed lately that pretty much any low light screenshot comes out nearly solid black. Really frustrating since I am doing a massive nether build and cannot take a photo that looks anything like it does on the screen when I am playing. I am guessing video capture is the only way around this? Increasing brightness ect.. in photoshop only makes them look marginally better. Anyone want to do video/photos of a big nether build for me? lol
Screenshots look fine to me. If you don't want it to be dark, light it up in-game before you take the picture.
You may be being tricked by your TV. The screenshot feature takes a picture of what the game actually looks like. However it can look totally different on your TV due to the rightness and contrast settings on your TV and then the gamma settings in Minecraft. Regardless of what those are to you, the screenshot comes out at a standard baseline.
So yes then, the only way around it is screen capture with a device that allows me to control bright/contrast.
I understand what you are saying about the post signal processing of the tv and the gamma setting but even with those settings way down I still see alot more on the screen than what makes it to the screenshot.

this one looked completely black (other than the lava) when it showed me on my tv, but it turned out pretty good when looking at facebook.
It was very wacky-looking on the upload screen, but....
Stay fluffy~
