Ok I will try to explain this as simple as possible. The reason 4J will never add mods from PC is because one, they would need permission from the mods creators. Secondly, the Xbox wouldnt be able to handle that much crap. If you 12 mods on your Xbox, you wouldnt be able to even start Minecraft without your Xbox lagging like theres no tomorrow. So I hope this explained the reason why 4J will never implement mods. Also, for anyone who doesnt believe me, get a reality check. Thanks for reading!
Zsaas I don't see why you have to make sure everyone understands the difference between tailor made mods and third party mods in retrospect to MCXBLA.
Especially considering that the tailor made mods that will be made for the Xbox version will be BASED on the most popular mods for the PC, just revamped for compatibility. So technically, you need the reality check. In the sense that no one cares if it's revamped for compatibility or not because no one except you seems to care about the verbal semantics... it's the same mod, different coders.
PC mods + Minecraft developers = Tailor made mods inspired by PC mods.
End discussion.
EDIT: Also, the PC version lags substantially more than the xbox version on generated world size alone. With mods that generally have to work around already made code, I can see why the lag is substantial. However with the xbox version, tailor made mods would be designed to compensate for the capabilities of the xbox without the ambiguousy of people having different quality computers.
Also considering they can replace code vs just working around, it reduces mountains of redundant code in comparison. I still don't expect to be able to run like 12 mods at once without some bugginess at the least.
This thread is founded on pointless conjecture.

I am trying to say that 4J wont add PC mods. In fact, they even tweeted it. I didnt say they couldnt add there own mods. God, why cant anyone listen.
Yes Zsaas, they would need permission to directly use another person's mods; but that doesn't mean that under the right circumstances they wouldn't consider obtaining that permission. Business is business and if there's enough profit to be made, businessmen will usually seek out a way to realize that profit.
They did also say that they would be more inclined to develop their own additions to the game since they would be better able to ensure things like compatibility with the existing game software and with the Xbox itself (which is not an open source system). They obviously want to ensure that whatever gets added to the game is of a certain quality. Daniel Kaplan, of Mojang, also stated at Minecon that Mojang wanted to insure that the game remain recognizably Mojang's concept. If 4J are inspired by a PC mod, they would have to ensure that they stay on the right side of all the gray areas of copyright legislation in order to bring that feature to the XBox. They would also likely have to obtain Mojang's approval to add it in since the concept for the mod wouldn't come from Mojang. So, there are a lot of hurdles that would make it more difficult; however, the bottomline is that we users don't run their business (and there are three businesses involved in bringing this game to the Xbox - Mojang, 4J, and Microsoft), so we really just don't know what they might or might not eventually do to overcome whatever hurdles are in their way.
I agree, it's best that no one get their hopes up too high, but being overly negative is not really a good thing either. The thread that seems to have sparked this one is the "I you could choose on thing" one, right? Since Tekkit is a complex package of mods that cover a lot of different areas of Minecraft, it took the thread to really discussing what general areas of Minecraft would you like to see 4J focus on for designing their mods... would it be rails, redstone, additional blocks, ores in the Nether, some sort of PVP additions? I don't think it was asking for Tekkit as a package to be added directly to MCXBLA.
I agree, it's best that no one get their hopes up too high, but being overly negative is not really a good thing either.
Im not being negative, but it appears like everyone else is. I am just trying to explain something, Im didnt say I was against mods on Xbox. Also, this is this will be the last time I will try to explain myself.
* Another reason PC mods won't come to the xbox is the PC mod makers don't have the technical expertise or knowledge to convert their mods from java to C++ (or C#). That's a huge leap. You all are thinking that you'll be able to download PC-duplicate mods from the internet to a flash drive and just upload it to your xbox- for free, of course. It has to be for free. Per Mojang's TOS, they can't charge for them ("make commercial use of". So the mod makers would have to do all that work just for the recognition. Sure they would.
* The game is being updated (essentially "modded") too fast for the modders to keep up.
* The game will be "going it's own way", adding xbox-specific features, so PC-duplicates of mods won't be needed, much less work. Modders will have to write high-level xbox-specific mods. Why aren't you writing any instead of just saying "I want"?
* Finally, it's a very small step from having a downloadable-from-the-internet mod to having a full downloadable game. MS (or any other console) will never let that happen. All "mods" (and games) must come through their official channels, as DLC, and they will change for them, as they should.
All the OP is saying is that PC-duplicate mods won't happen on the xbox- and that's true- so there's no sense in whining for them. 4J will write their own (in the future), and sell them as DLC. I only hope that they handle them fairly. If one player has a mod, but the others don't, then the mod is disabled for everyone (the mod only works if everyone has it).
Too bad as i had minecraft for both and now I only have minecraft Xbox edition due the java security fail I had to uninstall java because I had it on my work laptop and I can't risk to be hacked hope Oracle find a solution really quick I guess Xbox win this time (and for the guys with Mac or Linux they have the same problem :/ )
I am trying to say that 4J wont add PC mods. In fact, they even tweeted it. I didnt say they couldnt add there own mods. God, why cant anyone listen.
No it seems YOU aren't listening. We all know exactly what you're saying. It's just you decided to change the intent of your post after you got some responses. You went from saying "4j won't impliment mods." to "they won't impliment the EXACT same mods from the PC."
So I hope this explained the reason why 4J will never implement mods. Also, for anyone who doesnt believe me, get a reality check. Thanks for reading!
While you mentioned "mods from the PC." You never mentioned PC mods exclusively until after you got some responses.
I'm sorry to say but that was a horrible recovery. How many people do you see asking for mods ported directly from the PC? No one. We all know that's not gonna happen. We know that's not possible. As geneo said above, Java to C++ is like trying to turn an easy bake oven into a furnace.
So while I'm sure your intention was to inform people, you ended up just stating the outright obvious answer to a question nobody asked.
Had it not been for the "reality check" remark, I probably would have left this one alone.

If you say so, but "never" is a pretty definitive negative stance to take when explaining that 4J would need permission from PC mod creators. When a PC user registers with Mojang to become a modder and obtain the code, I believe they give Mojang permission to use the mod themselves in the game if Mojang decides to incorporate it. So, the matter could be a little more complex because of this... a legal question might be whether or not the permission given to Mojang extends automatically to 4J as a "partner" with Mojang in bringing the game onto the XBox. My son is constantly wanting mods for the PC version. I have a crappy laptop that runs MC pretty decently.
Installed FTB and the direpack shows 56 mods total. If that pc can run it. So can an Xbox.
Personally not a huge fan of them... Some are awesome... But they can simply be implemented as updates or new features..
Seems that simple to me.

Well from what everyone is saying its not that simple.

How much RAM does your laptop have? I can guarantee that it's a lot more then the 512MB that the Xbox 360 has.
4J has to choose very carefully what they do and do not add to Minecraft because the Xbox is already hitting the limits on it's memory usage. The Xbox may be powerful, but it can't compare to a decent PC. Add on the fact that it's now 8 years old and you see how extremely out of date and underpowered it is compared to current PCs.

Yes It is 2 Gigs of ram.. I guess I was kinda thinking Next Xbox.. But even then.. if it can handle 56 mods
Surely the current gen xbox can handle several mods running at once. Then again I'm not a programmer so .. what do I know! :-D

Wolf, all Jeb is doing is nicking mods. Modders have no rights! if 4j want to use a mod or part of a mod or anything anyone has created they can. end of story.
Example, Hoppers from FTB/mindcrack whateva mod it is.. now in live MC.. theres also various over examples i imagine
That seems like a very inaccurate assessment. Mojang, as creators of the game in the first place, have a right to creative control over what goes into the game. It's the modders who are attempting to piggyback on the popularity of Mojang's original creation.

The largest limiting factor on the Xbox 360 is it's extremely limited RAM. 4J has come right out and said this is the main issue they have to compete with when making the game. Having such a small amount of RAM means that only so much can be happening at once. The more stuff that is added to the game, the more stuff could potentially be happening at once. That is why 4J is trying to carefully pick and choose what is and isn't added into the game. They don't want to waste space.

And? So Mojang should just ignore things people want or great ideas because someone else made it first?
I for one do not enjoy downloading a million mods for my PC version so it's nice that Mojang is taking certain popular things and making them an actual part of the game.Plus, most mod creators would probably kill to get something they made into the actual game. I know I would.
