Ok so I've been playing the game for a few weeks now and my survival world is slacking on slimes. I haven't seen one yet!

From that information the app told me there was a chunk @48,240 to 64,256


So if I understand this right
X:48 Y:9 Z:240 (1st Corner)
X:64 Y:9 Z:256 (2nd Corner)

So this makes a 16x16 room. I made it 5 blocks tall, all the torches are on the walls none on the floors. Y:9 starts floor level.

I've been idle for 30 minutes near the area but 25 blocks above it. no slimes?

Not really sure what to do here?
any help/ suggestions?

Ok maybe thats why. I'm in the process of making the room 32x32 this may take a few days...

I expanded the area to a 32x32. I found a nearby cave that I lit up with over 200 torches. I had 3 large slimes spawn, a creeper, and a skeleton I have glowstone on the ceiling and 2 torches 3 blocks apart vertical every 2 blocks horizontal. I even put in a few glowstone on the ground.

I havn't tried the pumpkin thing, mainly because I havn't found any seeds yet

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it's all I can offer.... I've watch countless vids, read blogs, scoured forums, and NONE of it has worked for me. It's seems like the only time i come across slimes is when I'm out exploring. I've really seen most of them lately in the halls of Strongholds.

That must be what I'm doing wrong then, because I've never gotten anything but skeletons, spiders,and an odd creeper or two.

Slimes are one of the most annoying things to try to find in the 360 version right now. I think it's kinda crazy to make a slime farm when I'm just trying to get like 4 slime balls for sticky pistons... Really excited for them to spawn in marshes.

It's not so much that slimes love light, they just spawn in any light level. keeping a slime farm brightly lit discourages other mobs from spawning. Slimes have a much smaller chance of spawning than other mobs, and if you hit the mob cap with other monsters then nothing else will spawn.

As long as we're picking nits you meant therefore, not therefor.

i started a pumpkin farm after my quest to find a pumpkin ended with a creeper blowing me up I realized I wasn't very far from my base after respawn and ran back gathered my materials and now have pumpkins in my slime farm. I think theres room for improvement but I get 3/4 slimes everytime I go down to check on it. so it's working, I think it could work better, but it's working alright enough to move onto other projects.
