Hey, so me and my brother were playing Minecraft [360(obviously)] and we made a map and the seed was all the gamertags on our console. Anyways, the map generated was like a plains biome but was covered in snow and had minimal oak trees (only about 1-3 in every 50 blocks) instead of Spruce trees. And I was wondering "are there two types of Taiga (snow) biomes?" One that is just snowy plains and one that is a snowy forest?

ONLY the bolded/underlined portion is the seed and lava = a space. You should spawn in about the center of the world. If it isn't snowy, you probably put the seed in wrong.
actually there are 3... the snow forest, snow plains, and frozen rivers. Yes rivers are considered a biome. Rivers were added in the last one. However the snow plains and frozen rivers were added in this one. I know I mentioned before about these, but no matter... Probably buried somewhere in the threads...
Christmas is a seed that has all 3 I believe. Actually it is primarily all 3.:D
I like the dark wood, but having only that type is kinda frustrating when they decide to add in colored planks/stairs/slabs for wood. At least hoping they will.:D

Yes, I am so glad that it actually is a new biome. Tamorr, the river threw me off, otherwise I woulda said 3. That is great because I hate living in a Taiga forest because you have to spend like the first 2 days choppin' trees just to get a sufficient amount of building room.
I have not seen that one... I have seen frozen lakes... not ocean though... as those lakes are 1-2 block high. Those are not a biome, just a terrain feature within a biome though...><
If you can point to where a frozen ocean is then I would be happy to check it out, but I doubt it exists beyond the old worlds freezing over...

There are only 4 snow biome types. Technically, their are only 2 because Frozen Rivers and Frozen Oceans are just considered part of their original Tundra or Taiga biome.
Tundra (Ice Plains) Taiga (Snow Forest) Frozen River Frozen Ocean
hmmm... guess I have been lucky so far not to generate one of those. Although can't say I look for icy maps in the first place, so is probably why...lol
thanks for the pic, good to see more that has been added, even if it is one of my least favorite types of environments in the game.

Hm, that's weird because I have not seen a Tundra biome till now. I have only seen Taiga biomes
I had a world that was at least at least pre TU3 (1.7.3) that had one. So they've been in the game since at least TU3 but I know I've seen them 1.6.6 when the game first released. I do believe they became more common after 1.8.2 though because of the increase of biomes and the changing of the biome generation code.

actually taiga was left in version 1.8.2. The snow plains and other 2 were not in 1.8.2. I have done even more map generation on that version than I have with the current one. So I guess they added them in. And the rivers as a biome type was never in until 1.8.2, and frozen river the current version. I have mentioned and many others too, that a lot of biomes from 1.7.3 to 1.8.2 were lost or taken out. It seems like certain ones are being added back in though.:D

Even if they weren't in 1.8.2, Snow Plains were in at least 1.7.3. I made a world when pistons came out and almost the entire upper half was Snow Plains.

All I was saying is the fact that any map made between 1.8.2 and the current version would not have quite a few of those.
Of course anything before 1.7.3 would have a lot of terrain, as the terrain did not change drastically till the 1.8.2 came out. Much of the maps could be made between 1.6 and 1.7.3 with ease far as I know. Then again I only started on the xbox when 1.7.3 was out and a couple weeks before their patch for that version. So the only thing I can say for sure is on the pc edition, as before 1.8.2 the pc and xbox were pretty much the same kind of generation in terrain. After 1.8.2 it starts to stray quite a bit.
So I am not surprised to hear that snow plains were in the very first model, as were a lot of terrain that didn't cut it into 1.8.2. I mean the mountains I liked in 1.7.3, but in 1.8.2 those extreme hills are hardly even close to what I would see in the mountains of 1.7.3. I do see similarities, but not the same. However the snow plains are pretty much the same though.

Not certain when it's coming (it may already be in) but there's actually a sub category of Taiga that increases the potential hill height (bringing back some of the really nice 1.6.6 terrian potential). I believe in the biome list it is referred to as Taiga Hills (with the corresponding Forest Hills as well).

I can't say that I have seen one. That would be cool, though, so it would be like a snowy mountain type thing?

Yes I have a 1.6.6 map that is half snow plains
With a profile pic like that, you sure?
OT: I'm quite gutted I've never seen that snowy plains. Gonna look through the seeds thread now.
