I am trying to make a Call of Duty Zombies like map off my main world. I can put the zombie spawners in the rooms and stuff, but I am having kind of an issue figuring out how I would do the whole points system, primarily because I am trying to figure out how you would unlock weapons (swords) and stuff to make them, and how you would unlock locations?
Make the box [dispenser with weapons] and perks [potions]. You would have to pay by putting zombie flesh in the boxes first [because you get points for killing zombies]
everything possible with redstone - im trying to build some creations of mystery boxes and perk machines - send me a msg on xbl if you want to see them
That'd be so awesome, a redstone mechanism that "randomizes" the dispenser choice. I'm a beginner to redstone, one such mechanism could exist, but I wouldn't know :P.
OP, a pressure plate players have to put meat on could work. Though, I'm not sure if you can specify a certain amount of meat (beginning redstone experience).
Shadic, I believe it's about opening barriers to new location. Thank you for mentioning that, I've really liked the CoD ideas and that's one that can't be forgotten: repairing windows. Don't know how it'd work though.
Okay. But I need a way that the player would pay to open the barriers?
One thing to do is require X amount of items.
Every item goes on a wooden pressure plate, all of which will then burn out a Redstone torch.
All of the torches are linked to another torch. When all torches are out, the one to which they linked is lit and your creativity on pistonry opens the area.
(I wish I could send a picture, but I don't have time to set one up today.)

Dispensers themselves randomize the items they dispense. No fancy redstonery necessary.
This is an idea that would be best if you just wait. In the future, you could use spawn eggs and players would be paid by the wave rather than by the kill. Sand or gravel is the best form of currency, as it's very easy to build sand/gravel counters. Then purchases could be made by placing the blocks in a vertical chute. It's much faster and doesn't take up a ridiculous amount of space. There will also be a better way to use drops in a future update. But what is to stop someone from dropping an old unwanted weapon or arrows instead of rotten flesh? As for barriers, that isn't really possible.
I play COD zombies as much as minecraft, ad I'm pretty skilled with Redstone. If you want some help or input I'd love to come check out your project. Gamertag is in my profile. Usually on early afternoon and extralate nights PST.
Here's a quick example of how I do it.
-Please note I'm assuming Repeaters will activate pistons on the 360; if not, a work-around will be needed.-
The set-up, which can be any number of pressure plates.
And what will happen when all pressure plates are active at once:
Watermelon?
On Topic:
I suggest to have a little hole type thing in the wall, when throwing a flesh in put a bit of water at the bottom of the hole so the flesh will hit the water and flow 1 block, after that put a pressure plate on a fence, the flesh will flow down the water, drop threw the plate. (only giving it 1 pulse) Make some gadget that needs say 5 pulses and then it will give a signal to the pistons thus opening the door.
I'm not really good at explaining things sorry
EDIT:
"I can put in the zombie spawners..."
How'd you get zombie spawners? if you are talking about you know what, they won't spawn zombies just pigs for me

I was wondering about that too. They might have finally updated 360 Rev's inventory modder to support editing the IDs of mob spawners. Either way, I would still recommend just waiting for spawn eggs. Dispenser + zombie eggs grants much more control over the amount of spawns and frequency at which they do so.

Yeah i'm working on a survival based game and i'm building it to support the spawn eggs. By the time they are out I hope all I have to do is fill up the dispenser and test it out.
I have spent the last 2 and half months developing a recreation of Kino der Toten on MCX360
It currently includes,
A round counter and timer - each round is 5 mins long with increments of 5mins per round (R1 = 5mins R2= 10min etc)
This timer is also connected to a clock which is connected to all the barriers around the map- These all have dispensers in which will output the zombies (waiting for spawn eggs!!!)
Doors are paid for using rotten zombie flesh and once a door is open the redstone circuit expands to the dispensers in that room.
There is a round reward system in the first room (all get a iron sword at the end of round 5 as an example)
There are functioning perk machines - which are connected to a power switch.
I have two traps on each side of the map - one with arrows the other using lava. These last for 1 minute and can only be used once per wave.
I have a mystery box (kinda) on the stage that dispenses stone swords - but this runs out after 9 uses, same as the perk machines (help NoseJob!!)
There are a few more features - including an easter egg (top secret lol)
Once its finished i will be back on here looking for people to play test this,
You mean to recover the barriers or open doors

Would the pressure plates be side-by-side?
I kept mine one apart each.
Hang on, I'll hop into a world on the PC version and create an example since I have a few minutes now....

Why is your hotbar filled with pumpkins on the second picture?

It does have an update but I never felt like doing it, maybe I should download it and check it out...

That is the exact reason I used melons.
