Since you've started ill try and add to it a bit... The further the second little torchy thing is from the first the longer the current is delayed.
Multiple red stone repeaters can be used to make a longer delay and the delay you get from a red stone repeater is 1 tick as default when you put it down.

I don't post memes anymore. Awhile back I found that they're classified as spam if not accompanied by a fairly informative post. Probably wouldn't have suggested the search function in this case. There are a couple very good threads about the inner-workings of redstone items, but you wouldn't find them in this section. I would probably just link to those... or this.
