It's $20 for a true sandbox game that is constantly receiving free updates. That alone should make it sound like an awesome deal. Beyond that, if you know of or have played the PC version, don't be expecting that. The Xbox 360 Edition is currently equivalent to the PCs release 1.0.1. The PC is now nearing version 1.5.
4J, the company that develops the Xbox 360 edition has already said they will not be following the PC version exactly update for update after they've hit version 1.2.3. They're going to be doing their own stuff for the most part. So if the recent stuff on the PC has struck your interest, there is no guarantee that we will ever see that stuff.
It boils down to your own decision. Just download the trial and give it a go. It lasts a long time and should give you plenty of opportunity to decide whether or not you find it's worth it.
Well, it all depends on if you own the game for PC or not.
In comparison to it's PC counterpart, it is vastly inferior. controls are less than stellar (as is to be expected with controller - though once you understand them, they work well enough), it's a definitively finite map (as compared to it's PC counterpart), in terms of features/updates, it is currently behind it's big brother.
As a standalone, it is a solid game worth the investment.
I don't regret my purchase of either (PC, alpha 1.2, 360 launch day) however very few of my friends still play on 360, and thus, neither do I.
If you have the PC version there is no point buying it on the Xbox because PC is better
Nope. You are completely wrong. Comparing the two games is like comparing call of duty and Halo. It does not work.
Xbox is not better. PC is not better. Pocket is not better. Pi is not better. That's just how it is.
I have 3 of the 4 versions, yet I think its fine. I like just exploring worlds with creative on PC, I actually do survival on xbox, and pocket I just run around picking blue flowers........
Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
That all depends on you. Like others have said, don't compare the pc and xbox version, as you might set yourself up for disappointment. Beyond that fact, it is a free roam type of game that you can put your creativity into different forms. If you are not in all that creative part of the game aspect then there is survival which you have to survive all the monsters that roam the nights, as well eat your way through each day discovering new ways to do things, like maybe a defense against the night roamers. Protect against most things.
Enchanting your way to victory once you have dug deep enough in the ground to realize why. Also Visit a burning place full of monsters that act like wolves when attacked. They will swarm you while being pummeled from the air of a different monster. Discovering some of the each worlds secrets will lead you to different places, even if one of those places is not in yet, it will be eventually. You can brew yourself a potion once you find the secrets of the second place, and do more things you couldn't before.
It is all trial and error when it comes down to doing things in the game. Right now we are awaiting the bug fix, to ensure that second place does have secrets for every world. Building a farm so you can survive longer always helps. To have cattle and grains, as well a torch or two nearby keeps the bed creepers at bay. Just don't be fooled by them as even though they want a hug they have a tendency to explode with excitement on contact, so back away a bit and lead them to safety away from your constructions.
It truly is a matter of perspective, as that above does sum up quite a few aspects of survival alone. However there are more things to mess around with like taking a mine cart with you to get to places and working with various ways to make a door without using an actual door, if not many more complex things, hence being the redstone most talk about.
It is all up to you whether you want to buy a game that offers so much freedom within the bounds of the game. Just like the elder scrolls series it is pretty open ended, or even like the sims you could build your house or buildings the way you want. Every block in the game is in a way customizable once you mine it and gather it.
That is my take on it, what do you think?

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

agreed. but then again computers have mods and texture packs and adventure map. I'd love a good adventure map on my xbox without the hassle of having to use horizon.

I searched Pi and it came up with razberry Pi but i still do not know what it is would you care to please explan what one is?

That statement is almost as ignorant as saying rock is better than country, or that rap is better than classical. All forms of entertainment are subjective, it boils down to personal preference. Gaming is no different in this aspect.
I disagree they are both the same game except on PC:
Updates faster
Runs at a higher FPS (Depends on PC)
Mods
Texturepacks
Custom Skins
Larger Multiplayer servers
The only thing the Xbox has going for it is the controller, but you can use a gamepad on your pc
Xbox is not better. PC is not better. Pocket is not better. Pi is not better. That's just how it is.
It all comes down to personal preference. The Xbox 360 Edition is not the PC version. It was never meant to be. People just need to let it go and accept that it's a different game that will soon differ from the PC.
Also, Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition costs $20.00. The PC version costs $26.95 and has a chance of going up at anytime Mojang sees fit. The Xbox 360 Edition will never go up in price.
Xbox version runs smoother than the PC version. The PC version will only run without any stuttering if you have an extremely high end computer. Why? The game isn't optimized well (which is what they should be focusing on atm rather than adding more and more content. Please, Jeb...make the game run smoother first! No game should REQUIRE a user-made modification in order to play it properly). Even using Optifine, the game is a resource hog.
Now, the issue with the Xbox version is the world-size limitation. The overall world-size is slightly smaller than that of an ingame map. As far as modding is concerned they are not absolutely required to fully enjoy the game, this means the Xbox version is just as enjoyable as the PC version.
Be sure to quote me if you're replying, otherwise I won't notice.

Totally agree.
But, OP, Don't do it. DO NOT buy this game. You will be addicted. You have been warned.
Why? They are, and will be even more so in the future, different games.

You'll get completely different answers in the PC forum.
If the question was "Is buying any version of MC worth it?" the answer is "Of course it is."

They keep adding new stuff and everytime they do, you have to start a new world to take advantage of it.
One for the update, one for the bug fix for the update.
I still to this day can not get ONE seed that has everything that the update claims the game to have.
If you would have read what he said, you'd see..

TL:DR version: Both are equally enjoyable.
