So I need some ideas on what to build in this barren landscape. I was thinking a ship, but I've never built one before & don't think I'd be to good at it. I was also thinking about a large raggedy tree. & that's all the ideas I have. lol
I also need something to smack on to this floating island. I was thinking a shrine or something? Not sure.

Anyway, I've just finished building a shrine on the floating island. It's "The Shrine of Kagutaba". Turned out quite good for a 20-30 minute job.
looks like a good spot for a port...O_o At least from the shape that I can see. I mean the pics are dark, but seeable to me... It is just that all the colors or rather lack there off blends in so nicely to camouflage everything beyond that 1 building that is lit.
Seriously though a port town/village would look nice right there... Connected with bridges and all to the mainland. Ships even for me are tricky but I am sure with practice you can manage to get them to look right eventually, if not at least to yourself.:D

If I can find a good schematic for a boat that is a reasonable size, I'll drop that into minecraft using MCedit & copy it into my world. I'll be a lot easier than building one from scratch. If I do that, then I think a small port will go nicely.

It's true, the shots are insanely dark. I had to enlarge and strain just to find that floating island. And my left eye has 20/20 vision, so that's definitely not the problem.
Back on topic : Maybe you could build a huge stone portal tower, dock as you said. Or Cover the ground with dirt, and try to grow trees and turn it into another overworld.

It appears to be some sort of lake with a couple of islands. I say build a golf course and invite Tiger Woods over for a few rounds of zombie smashing.
Well jeez, what do you all want me to do? Spend an hour flying around & placing torches just so you blind people can make out the terrain. I can't help it if the Nether is so damn dark. I'm sorry I even posted the pictures in the first place. I'll have a mod delete the tread at once & request ideas from another forum.

No reason to get angry about it, not all of us have the greatest screens. Don't blame my eyesight, buy me a new monitor. As a console gamer, my PC's screen doesn't need to be high-res, it's not like I'm watching HD movies on it or anything. When I see a 30 lb. $10 monitor, I'm going to buy it and spend the $100 I saved on something else.

My computer has the same ailment as Ragnarock1982 then. Pics are not very clear at all. Eye of Sauron for your shrine?

Make sure you don't build your boat out of wood as well. It'd go down faster than a kebab on a saturday night out.
Not sure what else. I've never really built in the Nether. Apart from portal protection that is.

Also, I think the floating island deserves some sort of tower. If not big enough, you could build up the island for a larger area to work with.

I was only joking bud. Just a bit hard to see, mainly cause it's the nether. Always difficult to take pictures of that place.
I adjusted the photos for you, can see the tree's now. Doesn't actually look like the nether. Good job.
