Spawner is at level 18. I use a series of water elevators to bring the zombies to level 88 then drop the zombies to level 66. It takes 2-3 hits or so punching to kill from this point. However, as I kill them, my hunger bar rapidly starts to fall. Around 2-3 zombie kills seems to take away 1 bar from my hunger.
Can anyone confirms if this is actually a bug? Or is this the natural behavior of the game?
NOTE: This is with normal hunger: I am not under any hunger poisioning. This is also on easy difficulty.
I've noticed sometimes my hunger lasts for what seems like days and then sometimes it will only last like 2 minutes.
Might try a wooden or stone sword and see if it still happens.

It doesn't happen in my spider farm though? I drop my spiders 18 blocks or so and they don't drop my hunger.

The frames emoticon is actually a sign.
Good diagram but the top is a little confusing. Also make sure you drop the mobs at least 15 blocks away from the spawner
Basically that is how it is suppose to work hitting a mob uses hunger.

Really? I have a regular double spider spawner, that I also drop ~18 blocks, and I lose loads of hunger when hitting them.
Yeah, I would watch though, it's pretty informative.
Diagram screwed up when I tried editing lol. Yes, it's definitely more than 15 blocks away from the spawner.
