I was playing online multiplayer with just me and my friend. When we started our farm, we planted some wheat, melons and pumpkins. After a few Minecraft days, the pumpkins and melons all grew, but all the wheat was left at the last stage before fully grown. After a couple Minecraft weeks, it was the same. So we decided to use bonemeal. It was using the bonemeal, but it was not growing. We decided to farm some to see if it was actually there, but it wasn't. Anyone else encountering this problem?

EDIT: This was in survival, seed was 9041 (We use this seed because we found a lot of diamonds and lapus) and we were right by a snow biome. Wheat grew fine in a nearby village

I have never heard of this happening. I have not encountered this, so I do not have a solution. Make sure there is anough light, maybe that is the problem. If that doesn't work, we can both conclude it is probally a glitch!

Theres gotta be enough light if melons and pumpkins grow fine. Is there a difference in light levels for growing those? Part of my farm is under a tree

True. To be honest, I didn't think of that. I doubt the tree is the problem, but I am not sure. As far as I know, it has got to be a glitch, then. Try moving your farm to a different location. That might help! Other than that, I don't know what else you can do.

I'll try removing the tree to see if it makes a difference. If not, I'll move my farm. Thanks for the help!

Ok, so I removed the tree and it grew. Weird. I think Notch is screwing with me

probably because the wheat needs an air block above it to grow... not sure how you have it set up, but there has to be air above it as well the light it needs...

Wheat needs a decent light level (I have forgotten the specific number) as well as an open block above them.
In the case of the tree, each leaf layer knocks the light level down a bit more (either 1 or 2 per), so if there are enough leaves, the plants will not grow.
