Never saw this before in my many months of playing.
So I was underground beating up some gravel that thought it'd be funny and block my path.
I broke one and the gravel item fell into nearby lava, hissed and fell into the lava, but it refused to die.
The gravel continued to bounce in the lava a good 20 times before finally landing on a stone and stopping...on fire.
I haven't read of this glitch before and cannot replicate it, even in the same place with the same gravel blocks.
So block in its dropped form bounced on the lava about 20 times?
I'm not sure but there may be something like a 50% chance of it being destroyed when it hits lava.
In this case it would have been incredibly lucky why this happened with it bouncing off so many times and would also explain why the results are so hard to replicate.
If I didn't read you right just disregard what I've said.
It's probably wrong anyway.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
I've seen it several times in all my worlds. Though 20 times is quite longer than I have ever seen. I'll throw stuff into the lava just to get rid of it, and sometimes it'll bounce out of the lava and back onto the ground. It's like 10 out of 64 that this happens though.
I've seen it as well. I just figured it was the way that it hit the lava, it sort of "bounced out" of the lava, instead of just disappearing.
Maybe it has something to do with the lag from blocks manifesting itself in a weird way? No clue really, but it's a thought...

Yeah, it hissed around that much, each time being when you'd briefly see a regular item catch fire and vanish.
And 50% is really high. o-O
I've had a flaming dropped item sitting on the ground on occasion, but I'd say it's probably more of a 1/150 chance over a 1/2.

Has anyone else ever had a dropped item do this?
