I know they fixed this in the pc version... but that was not until 1.3 I think. Well hopefully they will do something about it in the future, as well the many things that should be stacked...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
This always bugged me about smelting. Why take the bucket. Surely you would just pur the lava in?
Anyhow, I use coal now. Coal seems to last a lot longer than, say, wood, and there is so much more to be found underground. You also get the XP for the coal.
Anyone know how many blocks coal will smelt? I usually put 64 coal, and 64 iron in the furnace, and am left with 42 coal. Mine isn't bugged is it?
So coal is the most efficient item to use in smelting/cooking then? . . I used to always use wood. Took ages to gather enough.
I think I've ever only used lava once tbh. Seemed like too much trouble going underground just to get some. Unless you're lucky enough to have a lava lake above ground.
I think full buckets should be stackable to 16 as well, I mean, you can stack bottles with liquid in them....
Full buckets are not like full bottles. . . full bottles have a lid. I think if you put a full bucket in a full bucket, the bottom one would have no liquid in it. . . . Try it. Do you have a couple of buckets and a hose? Big tip : Do this outside, not in your kitchen.

I use wood for charcoal... the only time I use wood as fuel is to get that initial bit of charcoal I need to start my charcoal reserve...lol
Lava buckets can do up to 100 I believe which is a waste and not very efficient to do a stack of materials. Coal and charcoal is the most efficient way since it only takes 8 to smelt a stack.:D
Note: coal and charcoal are exactly the same. They just come from different sources.

if u just put in 1 coal it will smelt 8, with multiple coal it will smelt about 7 each
2, they do 8. period. unless your switching them out manually
1. Dude, if you're going to be a grammar Nazi, well, people in glass houses and all that.
2. Yes, it's 8, always. Buckets smelt 100 items, and you lose the bucket. Poor efficiency (why not 64 or 128?) and bad deal on the bucket. I always use coal.
I'm surprised to see this conversation so long after the game came out. It's been like this since Day 1.
heh, I was giving some friendly advice, that's all.
Seems odd they chose 100, but, they also do things in groups of 3 also, so.
maybe its that lava is more easily accessible at the start of a world than at day 1? Again, maybe it's just me, but surface lava lakes seem more common.

It would make more sense.

Definately. Annoying when it takes up your inventory.

I use blaze rods, 1 rod smelts 12 items. Infinite fuel if you have a blaze farm like I do

And unfortunatly don't stack. ah well, one can dream.

Obviously the furnace found your bucket highly attractive and the two eloped after a fiery night of cooking steak.
Stay fluffy~
