I actually hate the rain. It sounds so bad, and it doesn't do anything good or bad to the game, unless I'm mistaken. I think we should be able to toggle weather, since rain is only a personal preference.

Rain does have a purpose in the game. It enables skeles and zombies to continue to exist during the daylight. Even so, I agree with you that a weather toggle would be a nice touch. Usually I get my worst bouts of lag when it's raining, so it would be nice to turn it off as a way of reducing that lag.
I do like the rain, but the sound travels too far underground, well the lightning does. Hopefully that will change in the future, but for now at least the map I am temporarily playing survival on doesn't rain because it is a desert. That brings me up on another thing. If it does not rain in the desert, then why does it still get the thunderstorm effect with out the lightning and cloud cover lighting. I think the mobs should still burn in the desert as if day during these times.
Would be an interesting thing to see in the very least.:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
i do like the rain and the lightning that comes with it.. awesome job on it!
But, i would like there to be an option to be able to turn it off! especially since i use turtle beach headset and its extremely loud compared to all other in game noise that i wanna hear and or the people in my party i want to hear with my volume at a normal level. and i shouldn't be able to hear thunder while i am 60-70 blocks underground lol..
like i said before, an option to turn rain on and off at will kinda like render clouds would be nice.
