I know that they added the end portals in this past update, but I was wondering that once they add the end in the next update will it appear in the current seeds? I figured it should since why add portals in these seeds but then not have them actually work in the next update. Let know know what you think.
I don't think worlds will update, because my old worlds don't have villages.
But the worlds now actually have the portal, you just can't use it yet, so, in the next update, it probably will work, if your game actually has the portal in it.

see that's what I originally thought but then I thought to myself what GameBuster4000 said about why having the portals in and then not have them work in the next update? I feel that when it comes to changing the world with mobs and biomes you need to start a new seed, but when they just add features and things of the sort then it will work with old seeds.
since each world at this current update includes a portal, it would have to be a complete portal, and since we can not activate that said portal right now... I would say you will get the end only if you have a full portal that you can activate. When the update comes out and you are on a world with the portal I believe all you have to do is activate it and there will be the end to visit.
Now for those worlds prior to the current update, I would say no. However I believe you can make the portal in creative. Wonder if that would actually work. Now that is the real question. Could you activate a portal created in creative mode, like you could with the nether portal? That will be a 50-50 all dependant on what 4J does.
I am under the assumption that the pieces are in the creative mode menus. I have not been in creative since this current update has come out. Well at least not to build....:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

In 1.8.2 we got villages, I think. . . This most recent update we got villagers. But old 1.8.2 world villages don't have villagers, IF you've discovered/explored taht village.
So IF you have already discovered the End portal, what makes you think it'll work?
Honestly, I would like to guess that it will not work, IF you've already discovered it. However, I would hope that it does work.
villagers are different... those spawn on initial generation. The do not spawn like regular mobs, which apparently is a misconception to most. They are a separate class of mobs.
An unactivated portal is quite different. Otherwise why would they put it in. I believe it is the same reason they did that on the pc edition. As on the pc edition they did the same and those worked after the end was put in.

As we said in the other thread, it is all guess work, and we'll just have to wait and see.
I'd like to believe that they will work, but with every update, things on old worlds do not work. Be it terrain generation, or other. How many worlds, and how many times do people complain about having to start a new world? Lol
Look at it like building another room onto a house. 4j hasn't finished the room yet, but they put the door in and it's locked. Once they finish the room, the door will be unlocked and you'll be able to go in. The only thing they have to do is add the code for the end (which doesn't affect overworld generation at all) and change the end portal block so you can put eyes of ender in them and add a part that says when theres an eye of ender in each one, create an end portal. That kind of change wouldn't need a new world. It's similar to snow golems, where before the update placing two snow blocks on top of each other and then a pumpkin would yield just that, but in TU7 they added the code that if you do that you create a snow golem. You didn't need to create a new world for that kind of change, so it seems reasonable for the same thing with the end portals with the end.
That's certainly a nice explanation, but you can't lock doors in MineCraft, yet.
"The only thing they have to do is add the code for the end (which doesn't affect overworld generation at all)"
You mean like when they added Nether fortresses to the Nether? They had to create new code, which meant that you had to load a new world/seed to get the forts. . . as the Nether is generated when the seed is loaded, even if you haven't been there.
So if it's like this, then the End would generate when the seed/world is loaded.. . . . Which means that 'old' worlds wouldn't have the new code?
The thing is, it's ALL worlds that won't have this code, where the Nether has existed from day one, nobody on Xbox has gotten the End yet. It'll all be sorted when the next update comes around, so until then, it's all guessing.
Be patient, young padewans, you will be appeased soon.

Only time will tell. (Or 4J. Lol)

Maybe, I could be completely wrong.
