First up.. A huge chunk of my Minecraft time is spent playing split-screen with my fiance. We find that since the update, we seem to be having a lot of issues with blocks reappearing right after we break them. Some times they come back and just stay, some times they just flicker back for a second. We have to walk far away from where we were working, then come back, and hope that resolves it (seems about 50/50). I've read that it's a lag issue, but it didn't start until we applied the patch.. So is there a bug floating around, or did the lag just get that much worse? Checked the official bugs list thread and didn't see it mentioned.
And another bug I didn't see mentioned.. Some times, animals are just like "screw this" and vanish from our pens that we've built for them. Perfectly fenced in little area, then the next thing we know everything in the pen was gone. Doesn't always happen. But it's frustrating. I'm under the impression that animals (or passive mobs in general) aren't supposed to despawn anymore, right? So is it a bug?
That's all my annoying questions, for now. Did some Googling and honestly just couldn't find anything helpful. Nothing in the bugs thread either. So ultimately I decided to pester you fine folks.
Best guess is lag, have you tried playing offline?
Yeah, to clarify we are offline. And I have cleared the system cache. And according to her, she's had some issues in single player a time or two as well so I guess me saying it's only in co-op was wrong.
Yeah mine does both of those at the same in single player offline, theyre both known but and will be fixed. If you had searched a bit, you would of seen this one post, there is this guy that put a video of a tree that he chops down and keeps reappearing, the worst I've seen on this problem

That happens to me too, the whole tree thing I mean. For that matter, earlier when I was playing *everything* that I destroyed was coming back at one point. I found that I could put a torch in the space to prevent the respawn... But then we'd I'd remove the torch, IT would start coming back. I was torn between laughing and pulling my hair out.
I guess I'll just wait for the next bug fix and hope for the best. ^.^
i dont believe passive mobs are despawning they are simply clipping thru wooden fences (have not tried nether fences). to test this i placed easily recognizable animals in an actual 3 high hole in the ground and theyve been unable to escape at all.

i had the same block issue on the PC version of minecraft and it was just basic lag, it shouldn't be "lagging" if your playing offline... so my guess would be a bug floating around but ive never encountered this one on the xbox360 yet.
as for the farm animals this happens to me alot! different concept same problem. ill fence off a whole area (2 fences high) to keep all animals out of an area which im playing with redstone or something and somehow they will get in... its a known problem so im sure we will see a fix soon... hope this helps.

I believe you are correct. I've heard people talk of actually seeing one animal "push" another through a wooden fence.
As for the lag, OP, you just have to deal with it for now. Honestly you shouldn't be too surprised. The 360 console had a hard time running previous versions of the game, it's only logical that framerate drops become worse as Minecraft reaches a higher state of complexity. The only way to combat this issue is to overclock the console's CPU... which is impossible. (from what I understand) We'll just have to hope that the upcoming upgrade to ANVIL format will grant enough benefits to "even things out" so to speak.

Offline lag is still lag, people just like to call it a drop in framerate. When it comes right down to it, this is the same issue with a different cause. Lag simply means to slow down, for example "Jimmy was lagging behind at the track meet." If the framerate is being affected negatively in an offline game, this usually means the CPU is struggling to keep up with the speed at which the program should be running. It is also possible that a bug could be causing problems as well, but I think the primary issue lies in the fact we're trying to run a very technical game on outdated and underpowered hardware.

I disagree. I have had several disappear from 3-high pit-like enclosures as well.

that sucks, yeah on my pit none have disappeared and my "test" so far shows nether fences are preventing clipping, but its only as of today so not really enough time to see if it works .

Glad to hear. Thank you.

My snow golems vanished on peaceful, I only had 5 of them trapped.
I think that 7 is the limit.

I did a count and was able to get 8. I really wish we could go higher though.
