I was thinking, if the world size is NEVER going to get larger, then why not increase the size of the nether also.
This would make nether fortresses more likely to appear on a map, along with blaze spawners and nether warts.
However, we would lose the "travel one block in the nether, travel 3 blocks in the overworld thing"
I just want to see what people have to say about this idea.
And with old nether worlds, we would have a giant bedrock wall in our way of getting back and fourth between the new chunks that will load in the nether and the old chunks.

Well, for me it would depend on the map. I personally have to go by Landmarks and memory when navigating the Nether because when you create a Map in the Nether to get the Nether Specific map, you as the player icon and your friends are constantly spinning and quite often you have no clue which direction you are traveling. Now if that were tweaked to be like the Overworld Map where your icon doesn't spin then yes I would like a Larger Nether for more Glowstone and Mob-Spawner Trap locations for the specific mobs that are there. But if the map icon will constantly spin then I wouldn't want a larger Nether as the current one is quite tedius to navigate at best without some kind of Flying-Jerk (Ghasts....) proof landmark, such as overworld Cobblestone.
Personally, the absolute first thing I do when I go into the nether is protect my portal with cobblestone, and leave a cobblestone path (just random cobblestone every once and a while, like how you would put torches in a cave) behind me wherever I go. eventually, I make tunnels though.

For my newer worlds, yes, I would dump it to have a larger one.
For my 1.6-generated world, no. I have things in literally every corner of that map and a 3,000-cobblestone, 1,200-glass arena on top of the ocean. That I refuse losing.
Hit and miss, really. I'm the guy who actually develops Nethers....

Yeah, 4J are fixing this problem when they come back from vacation in january. Though this is a little off topic, I hope we get bigger worlds in TU 8 because I'm sure none of us don't wont bite sized jungle biomes and the height limit is supposed to get bigger too. So this can also support the Nether issue's people have been having.

Stay fluffy~
How about an option to reset the nether?
