i just found a abandon mine shaft yesterday, and i only found 1 chest. i (think) explored all possible ways and tunnels in the minshaft. how many chest are in a mineshaft? is their only 1, or multiple ones? is their always atleast 2 or more chest? im trying to find melons to start a farm. Also im having trouble finding nether fortresses. i explored the nether for 2 hours and couldn't find one.

2. Chests are randomly generated throughout the mineshaft, it is completely random, For more information about mineshafts, click HERE.
3. Currently, it is possible for your world to generate without a nether fortress, if you do have a nether fortress, it is unlikely that it would have a blaze spawner AND nether warts, at the moment. This should be fixed in the next update, when it's fixed, you will have to create a new world.

I find that there are often other mineshaft tunnels hidden behind gravel, dirt and stone walls. When you seem to hit a dead end, it is usually worthwhile to mine a little farther ahead just to make sure the tunnel doesn't extend a little farther. I have found as many as six chests in a single mineshaft.
It's all luck of the draw.
I always spawn a seed in creative first and confirm everything I desire is there.
I then delete the world and respawn the same seed in survival.
As for the chests, pure luck. Generally there will be at least one chest in a mineshaft in the world. I usually find 2+ shafts per world.
