So, my cousin and I were playing some split screen Minecraft. We went mining in a nice cave near by and within 5 minutes we hear abnoxious zombie noises, hissing and spitting spiders, and mob jumping noises. We dug around, and sure enough, there was a cave spider spawner from a Mineshaft intersecting with a zombie spawner. We could have cheap shot them if we dug around, but we failed and ran out of picks and coal. My cousin jumped down there-died. I tried after be came back. I gave all of my stuff but a sword and torches to him. I jumped down and got MAULED. There HAD to be at least 10 cave spiders and 5 zombies down there. I died very quickly.
What's the easiest way to go about doing this?

It's not anything insane, but it was a free for all in that dungeon. I tried to light it up all I could, but there were too many mobs.

Flint and steel is the best way to deal with a spawner in my opinion. Extra damage if you make the monster run through it, and a temporary light source to keep more from spawning until you put torches around it.
The worst spawner I've seen? That would be yesterday. I was looking for that "perfect" seed. On one of the worlds I generated I came across a weird/bugged dungeon. It was in the desert. It had one spawner & one chest. Normal? It would be, if it weren't for the fact that where the spawner cage & chest were, was replaced with sand blocks. I was going to take a picture but I didn't think much of it at the time.
If you hold the left and right trigger together, you'll block and hit at the same time. Maybe a bug, but when facing cave spiders, I have never been poisoned by them. Also good for zombies. Try it. It works.
A bucket of water and Jack O'Lanterns. Water washes the mobs back and gives you a chance to fight them. Placing the Jack O'Lanterns to prevent the water from pushing you too much also, if close enough to the spawners, prevents more spawns. You can use the Jack O'Lanterns to build walls around you forcing the mobs to come at you from one direction only. Obviously, these ideas work even better with more than one player and each person having their own "job". Good luck!

1.) Peaceful mode--auto-win.
2.) Flood the room(s). This will at least make it harder to reach you.
3.) Dig around. Pop holes in the wall and torch it tha way.
4.) Iron armour with four Protect I's is your best buddy....
That spawner sounds AWESOME! Please tell me the seed.
I'll Post the seed. After your spawn, if you walk towards plains, you will spot a village. Go straight behind the village until you hit the water. on your right will be a few caves. Go to the farthest back one with the small waterfall. Go down through that cave untill you hear a lot of zombies and spiders. it is under you. Ill post seed and cordinates in top post soon. Peaceful Mode sucks and sucks all the challenge out of it. Boo for peaceful.
I get tempted to cheat with peaceful and I don't like it. I don't care if other people are having a hard time and just want to use peaceful mode for a bit...just wish I personally didn't have that option.
