After searching on the forums and Google, I can't seem to find an exact answer.

My friends and I made a world about 2 months ago and now with the latest update (blazing rods, enchanting etc) we were wondering if there would be nether fortress in our world? Or do we have to make a new one?

Again, I'm just trying to find a definite answer to my question as my searching of the forums hasn't given me one.

the update was not out then... So logic says no. old worlds made before the update, which includes yours will not even have a chance to have a fortress.... 0%

You'll need to make a new world. Be wary though not every world has a nether fortress, as of right now. The best thing to do is look at the MCXBLA seed thread to see what seeds have nether fortresses or create your map using a seed in creative first to see if it has a nether fortress and then create it again in survival with the same seed.

Gotcha. Thanks guys. Sucks now we have to start all over. We had a little city going and everything

I'm going to take the approach of making a (or till I find one with Nether Fortress) creative world. When I do, I just take the seed # and make a new survival game and I should be good? When I make the survival world, can I start it on peaceful? I read something like starting a world on peaceful will cancel out something in the nether?
