I'm having trouble breeding with wolves. I went out and tamed a few wolves, started breeding them and everything was going fine. I probably bred each wolf at least twice before they started having problems. I would feed them meat and they would enter love mode but they wouldn't make a baby wolf. So I exited the world, tried again, and still nothing. I tried hitting them and feeding them again but they would enter love mode and keep rubbing against each other. Then after maybe a minute or two they started attacking each other until one of them died. This has happened to me multiple times and a couple times after the wolves started attacking each other a baby wolf popped out of nowhere but it didn't really matter because the parents were killing each other. Anyone know what might be causing this? There not too close to a wall or anything btw
Most think it has to do with a passive mob limit. Currently passive mobs are spawning at a pretty high rate. my own experience is that I had to kill off most of the mobs in the area for breeding to work normally but I aways run into a cap at some point where they enter mating mode and do no reproduce. I have seen this with chickens, cows, pigs and sheep. I have not personally tried with wolves but assume it's the same issue. It has been reported in the main bug thread.
Alright that makes so much sense. I tested it by killing a wolf and breeding another and It worked. I hope they expand the limit at some point. Thanks a lot man appreciate it
I've had a similar problem but only with wolves, and I don't think it's the mob limit. I have pig and cow farms right next to each other in an area highly populated by mobs - sheep and chickens are everywhere - and I can get them to breed, no problem. My wolf farm is in a completely different area that has a lot of structures but few actual mobs. I've managed to get the wolves to breed twice, but that's it. Usually they go into love mode and just kind of run around together, like they're trying to breed but can't. They also refuse to sit when told even after love mode has worn off. It's really buggy.
I'd appreciate any insight/solutions that anyone has.
Maybe there's a limit to wolves? I've been breeding my cows just fine (except they've been disappearing which might be bc of a mob limit) but it seems there's a limit to wolves. After breeding twice with my wolves I tried breeding with different wolves and they still wouldn't breed, they would just run around in love mode just like yours and eventually attack each other. I've also tried with just two wolves in my house (didn't own any other wolves besides them) and I was able to breed them 4 times. I can't recall but I think I have 11 wolves more or less right now that could be the cap. I would think the evidence points to a limit but I really hope it's just a bug that needs to be fixed.
I have also been having problems, not with the wolves, but with all the others. I noticed if I go too far away from the baby pig/cow/sheep, then it disappears, but if I stay fairly close, they reach adulthood. very irritating...
I'd appreciate any insight/solutions that anyone has.
Probably why you're having problems. . . . think you're supposed to breed wolves with wolves.
Looool. +1
