I've been thinking about this lately and can't come up with an answer.... I'd say the obvious one being YES... But I figured I'd ask the more experienced community so please no guessing just cold hard facts..

So lets say you have a house and under this house happens to be, lets say a zombie spawner.....

Next you build a mob grinder--death by fall kinda deal... directly above your house.

Is the spawn rate inside of the grinder directly affected by the" mob spawner" the same way as "unlit caves" affect the rate at which mobs spawn inside the mob grinder???

The torches will affect the spawn rate so I suggest putting glowstone down or redstone torches those won't affect the spawn rate.

Yes, it would affect it, only a limited amount of mobs can spawn naturally.
