This is what my place looks like now, taken from my melon/pumpkin/wheat farm. I'm going to change the crown of the tower a bit. The middle of the tower is located at "0.0", it has a minecart track inside that goes to the very top, and to the very bottom at bedrock. You can see part of my mineport under the tower, and above that a moat that collect mobs into one area under tower where I have pistons/wiring linked up to either allow the mob to leave unharmed, or to smash hostiles with pistons, and the item drops for collection.

This is an old pic, I replaced the torches with jack o lanterns one block deep, then glass on top, so the light comes through the glass, and no torches. Looks really nice, like canned lighting. This also shows part of my mob trap system which keeps my place safe.

Before I knew what I was doing:
The first pic shows the "canned lighting" feature. It allows for plenty of light (jack o lantern is under glass block and glass block is flush with the stone) with out the use of torches
