Has anyone ever attempted this since the newest update? I'm currently trying to build an XP farm from one spawner and there are so many clogging issues. Transporting them isn't an issue, it's just where I want them in the end is where they all get jammed up. The will not climb up a 1 wide tunnel nor will they fall down a one wide tunnel. So I'm stuck at what to do. I just want a system that could collect the spiders and allow me to kill for XP, full health or not.
If anyone's successfully made a farm, can you share how you've done so? Thanks!
why would they need to climb up or down a 1 wide tunnel? couldn't you hit them from that distance when putting an iron bar over the hole? Since you really can't go too far from the spawner anyway...O_o. Use water currents to direct them along a 1x1 path for the most part... to elevate them maybe a water source and sign tricky up to point where you want...?
just a couple ideas... I haven't even found a world suitable enough for me to do survival on... so I have not attempted building anything that sort. Just few things I mentioned to check really... hmm....
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

Well so all the spiders could drop/climb to gather in a 1x1x1 space, but I'm guessing it doesn't work like that for the xbox since they're really glitchy and tend to clog..? Maybe if I need to elevate the spiders it should be a 2x2 elevator. Anyone else attempted this?
Just hollow out the area around the spawner, make a 3 block space around the spawner. Wall it all with glass. put pistons at the bottom, when they fall to the bottom, activate pistons to smash the spiders, make water run at the bottom towards you so the spider funnel towards you, seperating you and spiders with a fence. They can not get through fence, but you can collect items through them.
count from "one-onethousand" up to about "7-8 one thousand" in your mind and flip the switch again, so they are damaged but not dead.
Then simply strike each one once to kill, or shoot each with one arrow once, exp will drop.
You can make a 1x1 opening to shoot them, but fill the 1x1 space with a gate, so you can open it, and shoot through it.
Take a look at this:
I tested it on Creative Mode, and switched it to survival just to see if it works. I guarantee it'll work as long as you follow the video. Killing method is one-hit punch or splash potion. Piston crushers brings all their hearts to one, making it one-hit only.
Did you test that design on the xbox? I'm quite sure the spiders will get jammed at the spot where they are supposed to gather. Well, I'll try it later!

(Am I the only one who detests boosting XP and leaderboard kills with Spawners?)
I personally wouldn't do it for that... I would do it just for enchanting alone...leader boards mean not much to me... but I guess that is just me...lol

Have a look at what etho did in one of his earlier episodes with a couple spider spawners... He made a spiral staircase using slab for the stairs and water flow to elevate them. So that might be an idea to try if the 1x1 hole is not working to elevate them. We might have the changed version of them, behavior-wise, in which they do not climb when in water. Use that to your advantage. Better to have a continuous flow of water to the destination than a drop, as they do not truly fall.
However usually when they have tracked you they would attempt to follow you, so having to kill from above might work with a iron bars in the killing chamber. Have the item drops below with another iron bars then water flow under that to a collection point. just make sure they enter between the iron bars/fence. Iron bars or fence should work right now. I just say iron bars as that is something I have seen used often enough at least in the two channels I watch on youtube.
So something along those lines probably should work although if you don't have enough space for something like that, then might have to try something else if not much is working effectively...:D

Stay fluffy~
Yes I can confirm it works, I tried it out.
