I have spent a while looking for nether fortresses, I can't seem to find one. I really need to because I need to make potions. Can someone describe to me what it looks like and maybe how to find it?
If your map seed includes one, as someone else put it... It should be obvious, as it looks quite different from the rest of the place. Especially since all if not most the nether fortress is a blackish color with more brown than purple...But quite noticeable since usually you will see supports of it at least somewhere...
However sometimes though it hides in the netherrack... no guarantees though, as right now not every world has one yet. Hopefully after this upcoming patch things will be fixed as they have mentioned. For me that is what I am doing awaiting the patch, and playing on worlds that I know wouldn't have one in the first place...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
