you can currently. You just have to leave your xbox on continuously with you signed in to minecraft.
Unless they add servers, this kind of thing won't be possible, because you'd both need to be able to access the map.

4J has already said that they too would like a map sharing feature. However, they have priorities. One priority is to get the game "finished" to 1.2.3. Everything else takes a back seat to that.

^^^ Yes, this thing that nobody considers.
Say they implement map sharing now. Well, by the next update we have a bunch of old buggy worlds flooding the list. Those other games like Castle Miner don't have nearly as much going on. Biomes for example, which only Minecraft has, none of the other voxel-based sandbox indie games on the 360. And most of them are no longer being updated, the ones that are receive patches very rarely. They can pull off map sharing quite easily, without compatibility issues.

You're already allowed to share worlds with other players, but it's by using 3rd party programs. I'm not sure if you're allowed to talk about it here so that's all I'm gonna say.

You aren't allowed to. But anyone could get any feature in any game simply through hacking.
Do those indie games have map sharing where you save a copy of your map, and give said copy up? So that any changes made to the copy do not affect the original?
That would be pointless in a shared map, and you might as well just make two separate maps.
