I'm looking for an efficient mob grinder to build in my new world. I need lots of gunpowder for a bit of excavating. I was using this one in my old world but I'm not sure if it still works in this version and I don't want to spend a couple of hours building it if its not going to work.
Can anyone recommend a fairly simple and efficient mob grinder? On the other hand if you know this grinder still works can you please let me know as I quite liked it. Please post a link to the video.
Now recommending any mob grinder these days is well.... tricky... As all of them will usually work.. now how efficient they are is another matter, since on the xbox any mob thing is going to be underclassed compared to the pc right now... or at least with what many have said.
This current one that you have shown should work, but I don't see it having that great of efficiency as it does in the video. It will still have a good/decent rate from the looks of it. Plus at least you will not have to worry bout' enderman or spiders clogging the system up. So I would say maybe stick with that design, since at least it works...:D
I know there are lots of grinders, xp machines and so forth out there, but there is only one way to find out which is better than the other and that is building and experiencing the output. Any mob system can be added onto in order to increase the output, usually that is. Especially that one...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
The biggest issue I find with mob grinders these days is controlling the number of mobs that will spawn in the area outside of the spawn floors. The cave systems and ravines on the XBox are pretty numerous now (i.e. packed closely together) that it takes quite awhile to find and light up all of them enough to get the numbers of mobs spawning inside the trap up to a decent rate. Flooding them does help get the job done more quickly; but it does limit easy access to whatever ores are still in the caves.
all my mob grinders have slowed since the last update, not sure why but its the quickest way of getting gunpowder, will be a slow process to get alot of TNT
They slowed down because enemies now stand still if you are more than 32 blocks away, any mob grinder that requires the mob to do anything other than spawn will have slowed down significantly. This is what brought rise to the piston powered mob grinders on the pc.
o.k so i have 2 stack's of gunpowder in only 2 days...Is that good? I made my own/new kind of mob spawner but it is huge...And i mean huge!! It is still not done because it is my legit survival world, but it still put's out a lot of mobs at time's. It's all controlled by water and a switch so i can turn it on and off.
So is two stacks of gun powder good in two day's? + i got 70-90 levels if not more.
