So i made a big fenced in area and put 2 cow's, 2 pig's, and 2 sheep in it. Gave them a little light and some water, Then i made them each have a baby so i could start farming them! When i came back later i had 1 cow left??? WHY?

All the animals are penned together.
Nothing can get in or out!
Is there not enough light? Should they not be grouped together? What is wrong and has any one else had this problem?
This happened to me once. I thought the animals have somehow escaped, so I sprinted across the map (in under 2 seconds) trying to find them, but it was useless. So I came to a quick conclusion that they had despawned. This is a well known glitch. It happens most often when you leave the animals for an extended period of time and when you are far away from them.
Animals really do spawn and despawn rather strangely. For example, I have two mooshrooms trapped on the peak of a 10-block high needle-like rock that have been there since I started the world. They've never disappeared. Then I have a swamp area that's basically a medium sized island crawling with pigs, cows, and sheep most of the time. But sometimes, however, there aren't any animals there at all. None. It's really strange.

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.

lol, same here, all my animals that are stuck on the edge around my mountain never de-spawn. I have to bust out the fishing pole to get them down
Yeah it happened to me. On my new TU7 world, I found this small mooshroom island in the middle of the ocean and decided to fence it off. After about 20 mins fencing it off and and checking for escape routes, I was positive no mooshroom would get out. Then two mooshrooms spawned and I started breeding them, and ended up with about 20. I left for about 10 mins, came back and there was only 1; I was like ...

someone might have found the exact cause of it by now, though.
O'well, guess it's back to fishing for cows. <---- That;s not a joke, LOL
Yup , That's right, cow fishing!!! How else am i going to get them down.
well then i have no other ideas. It is probley a bug or a glitch
