So playing on my legit survival world i finally got silk touch on a pick and went to get some ice And guess what..... you can't get ice block's?!?
Is that a bug?
I have seen others get ice blocks on the PC version, so why not on xbox?

You can silk touch glass blocks but I have not tested it out on the glass panes. Ice is next on the list to be tested now that I have found this thread, if I cannot get that then that is more or less a let down. Only reason why I wanted silk touch on my diamond spoon, was for ice harvesting.
hmm... i can understand putting it so silk touch to glass... but that is just down right mean that they took the natural reclaim of panes away...O_o I know silk touch can be used for many things, but does it have to be used for everything... or so it seems...><
Will be nice when ice is gained through silk touch, however getting a silk touch pick would take some time... even on peaceful...><

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
According to the wiki, the ability to mine ice and glass came later than 1.2, so we might not even get it. Hopefully we will.
ppl keep saying things like this. that we wont get major/useful things from PC just because it's after 1.2. come on. that's just not true. we will get the ability to mine ice blocks, we will get jungle biomes(which is one of the main things i keep hearing we "might not get"). just because they are going their "own way" doesn't mean they will completely ignore the good additions to PC minecraft.
Wow I never knew about that although I've not really experimented with Silk Touch yet anyway in regards to ice blocks, but it kinda sucks if you aren't able to get ice until a later version :/ hopefully it'll be added/fixed in the next bugfix or title update!
Does anyone know if its possible to get the giant mushroom blocks using silk touch yet or not? as with those and ice, I just thought they would be general things you could use silk touch to get, that you originally wouldn't be able to get without it!
I know before you could get glass panes back using a good old shovel to break them, but if you can't do that anymore as a result then that sucks too D: haha
I've been using my silk touch diamond pickaxe to gather up some grass blocks. Well, that isn't all I use it for but it is nice being able to harvest some grass blocks. That and harvesting stone blocks so I can make stone bricks without wasting a bunch of coal/charcoal to convert cobble into stone.

It's always best not to assume things when dealing with things you know nothing about. Neither you nor I know the thought process behind choosing what goes into an update and what doesn't, so it's best not to assume you know best.

Also on topic: Just to confirm what others have stated, the Diamond Spoon with silk touch WILL NOT silk touch ice, same for the pick axe on glass panes and ice. This makes me sad.
That it does, forgot to mention this; thank you. It just does not work on glass panes which is okay, as it only takes 6 glass blocks to make 16 panes, I think.

They took out that functionality with this update apparently. >.< It sucks.
