First let me introduce myself to the community because I am new here; my name is John and I have played the MC 360 edition since it has come out. Now, my question is of the glitch that occurred several months ago when you renamed a world and it was deleted. I understand that there was an update to fix this, but this happened before the update. The reason why I am asking so late is because at the time I had just given up on played MC ( because I had spent a copious amount of time building my city) and had stopped playing for a while. Now that the new update is out, I have started playing again. My question is; is there any possible way that I may retrieve my world back? Even after several months of it being gone? I appreciate any help given.
Understandable. Another question; the seed I used was turnofthetides, which you may be familiar with. Well in the current version it is a completely different map ( all ocean biome). Is there any way to get the old seed back ( I tried the letters and the seed number, they are both the same map)?

No, the formula for terrain generation has changed. You're stuck with seeds that were discovered with 1.0.1, or afterwards.
wait if u clear your xbox cache I think it deletes the minecraft updates so I think the terrain will go back to the old u should do the make a world with ur seed then update and play idk u could try if u want

The only problem with this is that it will not let me onto XBL unless I download the newest update, and to play you must be on XBL. Can you think of any ways around this?

No, you don't have to be on XBL. Clear your cache and then immediately take your XBox offline. This will put Minecraft back to 1.6.6. If turnofthetides is a 1.6.6 seed, this will work. Start Minecraft while your XBox is offline and create your seed. It will ask you if you want to continue playing offline. Answer yes. Then, make sure you explore every inch of your seed BEFORE you put the XBox back online. Once this is done, hook up the XBox and accept the updates. This will update the game to the current 1.0.1 level. Then reopen the seed you saved while offline. The terrain should remain intact if you've explored everything. However, a warning - the climate may be radically different and you will not have any of the new terrain features or structures. There is no guarantee that this will result in a world that you will want to use with the current version. After suffering the latest round of climate changes in my old worlds, I've now resigned myself to the idea that it's just better to start with a current seed. The seeds list is a good place to start.

Ok, let me try this ill update you on if it works.
This did not work. I cleared my system cache, but MC stayed in the most current update. I have two xboxs but use one hard drive, and I have disabled my cloud sync games temporarily. Could any of this be a problem?

That has me stumped. The two XBoxes with 1 hard drive could be the problem or they may have changed the way it updates as well and maybe the cache thing doesn't work anymore. I'm going out right away, so I don't think I have time to test it for you tonight, but I'll try.

Ok, and the problem could be that this is not the Xbox I usually use (downloading updates and whatnot. In a few days I will have access to my main one, ill let you know what happens then.

Ran a real quick test. Cleared my cache and started up Minecraft. Interestingly, it did not have to re-update at all. So I think clearing the cache no longer clears the recent game updates. I wonder if this has something to do with the changes Microsoft made to the dashboard that came out about the same time as the 1.8.2 bug fix update. Perhaps it now detects whether or not a game is in active use and keeps those updates in the cache? Just a thought. Anyway, bottomline is that I don't think this will work anymore on any XBox. Sorry.

It's ok, thank you for helping me out. Perhaps a new map and a fresh start will give way to new ideas.
