I think the first time I bred animals that happened. Later that night I tried again, and was able to breed them. I'll go away and come back tonight and see what happens to them.
Just keep trying and see if it happens.
Yeah it's a pretty bad bug. Even if you were able to successfully breed them, they would despawn anyway if you left them. No point of breeding yet.
Luckily I have not had this issue. Cows and sheep have stayed put since the update hit and I started my animal farms. Not a one has disappeared.
This did happen to a friend of mine though, his animals do breed but they vanish when he is working in another area. The bug fix 4J puts out will handle this, we can hope.
I think it could be due to you hitting the size cap on animals in that area or in your world. When you leave the area the games like "Ok so how do I reduce the animals" and it despawns some random animals.

I doubt that's the problem as it seems to despawn all the anils and then randomly spawn some back. I haven't experienced the issue myself so I can't do any further testing/troubleshooting with it

I don't know, I had a fenced area with 2 cows, bred them a few times last night til I had 9 in the roughly 15 by 15 fenced area, they were jumping up on each other and clogging together half the time so I doubled up the fence height just in case. Reloaded this morning... 1 cow in the pasture. Since at least 2 of the cows were pre-update.... shouldn't I at least have 2 cows in the pen?
Had this happen to me for the first time today while trying to breed mooshrooms; but have not had any issues breeding any of the other animals so far. Getting them to not disappear from their pens is a different problem. With breeding mooshrooms, does anyone know if anything special needs to be done. I've led two mooshrooms to my farm with wheat and have tried to breed them the same way I have bred everything else - just by feeding each one some wheat. They both got the hearts over them and started to nuzzle each other, but no baby was produced. Can they produce a baby if they are no longer on a mushroom island?

I had two mooshrooms spawn in pre TU7 world so im not playing that world until they fix the despawn bug

Ok, I've only been going off what I've been reading. I'm wondering if it is also a problem only with pre 1.0.1 worlds, and not newly generated ones.
No Ive had animals despawn in post-TU7 worlds. It might be worse in Pre-TU7 worlds but yea it happens in both.
