I have watched 2 or 3 you tube videos about obsidian some say to combine magma and water I tried that and it didn't work All that happened was I lost 2 diamond pick axes YAY! D: Please help me how do you really make obsidian?
Then you must be doing it wrong... you are suppose to pour water over lava, not the other way around... And how did you go through diamond axe if they are that valuable...O_o unless you used it on obsidian... You only need a stone axe for most materials and iron for all the rest except obsidian...
Anyway just put lava down in a hole and run water over that lava... that equals obsidian.

Dump some water over a lava source, that simple. If the lava is in motion, you're only going to make cobble, it has to be on the top of a source block. Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to lose the two diamond pickaxes?
You have to bring water into contact with a lava source block, i.e. lava that isn't flowing in any direction. The easiest way is to find a lava lake and go wild with a bucket of water.
