So i made a new world the day of the update[survival] and made a portal. Now i went into the portal and there are absolutely no Nether fortresses. So is it possible to get blaze rods? I won't be able to brew if not
On another note, I have a fortune I diamond pick axe and if you mine ice blocks it doesnt drop anything. Glitch?
Fortune is mainly for blocks like coal, diamond, resdstone, lapis... Where they drop an item rather than a block. It multiplies or has chance to get more out of those resources...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
At this point, silk touch doesn't allow you to collect ice or glass panes. That functionality, according to the wiki, came in one of the 1.3 development snapshots. So we may or may not see it in the next update.

I think you meant glass blocks, as glass panes you can already reclaim...O_o
