So my only and obviously favorite seed has been ruined by the update. North and south, or where the sun sets has changed. This is a big deal to me as I always build using sun rise and sunset to determine orientation of all my buildings. Stupid Stupid Stupid thing to have in an update. Screw You 4J. I have no interest in a new seed. Lamest update ever. Picked it back up just to slam it back down. Big Time Bummer
Am I the only one smart person who that builds with the Sun in mind and therefor got screwed? Fix the sun? What was broken? My sun rose and set in the same place every day so I built to it. Now it randomly changed. Thats Bunk, Sorry you guys don't get it, but they didn't fix it, They broke it or randomly changed it. I don't care where it was before this. Changing it messed up my seed. I built an entire huge monument/castle to watch over my kingdom from and see the sunset and sun rise. It's in the wrong place now as our all my buildings. It's an arbitrary change that did not need to be made or could have at least been applied to new seeds only. Take your laughs and shove em because I find it totally random and not at all funny?
It orginally set in the wrong direction, that's why they did it. (It set north and south)
It says this on the minecraftwiki sun page, that's why they did it. How badly could it really be messed up? The sun doesn't make blocks look different, and a real city wouldn't be affected.
Not about windows, Don't really use them. I build exposed using the terrain to my advantage Cant even see the sun anymore from my most important monument/defense platform. Please don't waste your time with a response unless you have something to say that isn't trolling or childish. Like why it needed to be changed. Oh wait, it doesn't other than to ruin someones planning. It's an arbitrary and unneccassarry change and it is a stupid one.
Wait a minute, iirc the sun originally moved the way it does now, post update. It was either the 1.7 or the 1.8 update that changed it, so now, technically, it sets the way it did originally.
Yes. As with most thinking person's. Everything I build revolves around the sun and it's position at sunset more than anything. Boat Docks, Houses, Mining platforms, shops. I used to have my monument/defense platform set up so one could watch the sun rise through a keyhole like structure after a night of fighting. I also like exiting the house to sunny areas and then just collecting all the baddies that burned stuff. Won't work anymore. Not cool to crap all over someones creation like that. Minecraft is all about the time you invest in it and what you can accomplish by being smart. 4J Just wiped my seed out randomly and I find myself less than motivated to redo it. Whats to stop them from making another arbitrary change later to ruin that one too.

Sweet. So it is a total random F.U from 4J. Not appreciated. Why bother? Nothing like getting trolled by the developers.

Someone already explained why they changed it. You should really consider reading all of the responses to your own thread. Someone that could care less (me) read them, it's honestly not that difficult.
And please... please... for the love of god... tell me that this topic was just an attempt at trolling.
EDIT: Ninja'd... sort of. I should really reply after clicking on things, instead of forgetting about them while I play Happy Wars.
I have never seen anyone else build around the sun's position. You are a minority. They wanted to fix something that was wrong, and the majority didn't care. So they did it.
It is not totally random and is exactly what happened during PC updates. The sun was originally seytting on a north to south orientation, which they realized was wrong so they changed it to east and west, which is exactly how our world works.

Except there is no such thing as North in Minecraft. It's a theoretical starting point. There is up and down, left and right on the map. It's a bleeping game played from the couch. No one is going anywhere or an any direction. I don't care if the sun moves up or down or to the left and right, it doesn't matter. Just pick a direction and stay with it. Don't randomly change it for no reason, which they did. Just because you want to believe North is up on the map doesn't mean it is. Do you actually move the TV so it points a certain direction, no, its a small and randomly generated terrain with no need for directionality. It is not a scale of the earth. What would have been nice is some consistency so that people who enjoy a view don't randomly lose all the built spots with great views. Stupid and Pointless change
If you play pc, there is north and south. On coords, it will say the directions. So yes, there are directions.
Now stop posting crap about why your builds are ruined. You are ranting about a lesser-known BUG FIX because most people don't notice. I have never seen anyone build anything related to the sun. I hardly ever use the sun as directions!

Apparently so, but I guess we are the smart ones now since this change isn't effecting anyone else.
Does it really matter that much? If you had OCD or something I could understand, but other wise... get over it. :\
