I know this could go in the general Minecraft topic, but I've been playing on the 360. Giant biomes are driving me insane. I know they were added in the last update on the 360, but I never really created any new survival worlds, I just continued to play on my original world. Now that my original world is incapable of spawning nether fortresses, I decided to create a new survival world.
These giant biomes are so BORING. Everything is to the extreme. Want a moderately hilly area with some flat areas, some cool cliffs, and trees scattered here and there? Too bad. You get forests where there are NO open areas and no cliffs. The plains often range from flat to barely hilly, but that's all. Then you have mountains where everything is an exaggerated mess (they look cool, but their are no moderate mountains to mix things up).
Originally, you couldn't really tell what was going to be on the other side of a hill. Now when you see a hill, you know it's going to be more of the same thing you've already seen.
Giant Biomes are neat in their own way, but it all feels so boring to me. I enjoyed having moderate amount of trees everywhere, with patches of plains in between and hills and cliffs scattered throughout. Now instead of having one world with a variety of things, it feels like 5 separate worlds that all focus on only one thing.

What would be amazing is if 4J found a way to allow worlds to generate with new structures using old generation techniques. Maybe allow someone to type a certain word in the world seed which would change the way the world is created? Make it go back to the way it originally was, where biomes weren't so generic.
---
I can't be the only one to find this horrendously boring.
I created about 20 different worlds. I could have taken a screenshot of the snow biome in each and every one of them, and you wouldn't be able to tell whether they were the same area or not. Originally, there was variety. It used to be worlds felt random, where now the only randomness is where they'll copy and paste each new biome.
