I would say that the answer is "no." In fact, in testing this out this morning with another player in my 1.0.1 Pre-Bug-Fix world, I found that with PVP and Trust Players both disabled on local splitscreen mode (offline), the second player could not even open a gate or a door... and I thought this had been already fixed. As a second test, we both signed out and swapped controllers with exactly the same result. Player 2 could not open the gate or the door. We didn't specifically check out a chest, but I would suspect that Player 2 could not open these as well.
PS: I had already been online and did receive TU8 before this test was made.
ETA: Never mind.. I just thought of what I might have been forgetting to do. I'll test it again later (tonight) if I get a minute.
If they fixed it or not, I just want to say thank you very much. I didn't really expect anyone to help but you did. You don't have to worry about testing any more.

And again, Thank you.
I called someone and they tested it out. What you need to do is activate "can attack animals" when you authorise the second player to do certain thing (like open doors - which is the part I forgot). With the "can attackl animals" activated, Player 2 can fire at bow at animals and objects, but not at other players (at least I think that's how I understood my friend).
As an FYI, after update, Still notice two bugs. The Ender eye host server crash and for some reason signs sometimes show up invisible and you have to constantly hit left trigger on sign to see them. For more details on ender, I'd like to send without everyone knowing, because it can be quite annoying if people find out and it becomes abused. Thanks >.<
Patch is good. Fixed a lot of things but for me, mobs still sound like they are taking damage when walking around, (I.E) sheep walking around sound like they are taking damage, and hopefully they will add the proper sound for eyes of ender being thrown. Other than that have not noticed anything bad, not sure if anyone is experiencing those 2, so i am not sure if its on my end or not.
On a side note, Thanks for adding the xp sound effect.

Are you referring to that sound that makes you think something broke it's bones?
Greetings: Below is a copy of a bug report I attempted to post on the JIRA site but could not. I am not sure if this is the correct place for it or if I have formatted it well, but I will happily take any suggestions towards correcting my posting procedure.
Minecraft Bug Reporting:
What I expected to happen:
While trying to breed two tame wolves I ran out of food. I expected single wolf in love mode already to just look around stupidly until the effect wore off as happens with other mobs.
What actually happened:
The single wolf in Love Mode went after another wolf apparently to mate but the wolf not in Love Mode took it as an attack and started fighting with it. The fight ended when one of the wolves died.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attempt to mate multiple pairs of tame wolves in your pack. Mate the first pair or pairs succesfully.
2. Feed one healthy tame wolf some meat when prompted to enter Love Mode.
3. Do not feed the other.
Notes: This happened twice since the Jan. 30th update this morning. I did not notice the problem before the update but I don't recall creating a similar situation befor either...i.e. I have always had enough meat to feed both tame wolves.
Both times this happened I had more then just two dogs in my pack. I was breeding multiple pairs at the same time.
Priority is probably minor since the work around would be just to make sure you have enough meat to feed both animals and feed the second one before the first attempts to mate. Why would the tame wolf attempt to mate before the other is
It seems that one bug I'm still seeing is where using LT directly on an iron door still makes the door opening sound. Still very glad for all the bug fixes.
I'm sorry to keep having to post this issue but no one seems to respond on Twitter... I am VERYANGRY with Title Update 7 and Title Update 8 because it FREEZES my world. My world consists of 1/4 of the map being covered in a 1 block thin layer of ice. This ice could have been black wool had I known that Ice does not melt on its own. Then I could have placed water buckets above this black wool and then removed the black wool.. That being said it is a VERY tedious task and if you're still wondering what I am trying to do OR was for that matter... I was trying to flood an ENTIRE world!!!! However, since title update 7 my world DOES NOT LOAD! and I am very ed-off about this because my friends and I have spent COUNTLESS HOURS placing ICE!!!! All the world does is load up and then the map in my hand is blank and whenever I fly around no other chunks load and then the map freezes OR kicks you out and if you try to leave by exiting then the world will FREEZE your xbox! (Quite literally) So PLEASE RESPOND to my query and do not hesitate to re-tweet this problem to 4JStudios!
I have also found a few bugs with Title Update 8. The game saves when the last auto-save was before you leave the game and when you reload the game it counts down from how long ago your last auto-save was. For instance I save and exited right before an auto-save and when I loaded my map up again the next day it Auto-saved within minutes! Another bug is if you are in single player and pause the game with auto-save on when you un-pause the game and an auto-save was supposed to happen it saves. Instead what should happen is every time you are in single player and pause the game the auto-save counter should pause. If you leave a game the auto-save counter should reset (The resetting of the auto-save counter should always happen if you leave the game)!
Also instead of a 5 second warning why not have a toggle-able auto save countdown clock in the top left or top right corner of the screen that appears within 5 minutes of the next save? This would countdown the last 5 minutes until the next auto-save. When 10 seconds are left it should countdown from 10...9...8...etc when at 5 it should pop up with the auto-saving in 5...4...3...2...1...0 like it does now!
1.) Animals sound like they are breaking their bones from a 1 block jump or just walking around, it's quite weird and a little disturbing at times.
2.) Not all coal blocks are dropping EXP orbs. If I find a very large strain of coal, sometimes there are 3-4 blocks in there that are not dropping EXP orbs, which is not the biggest deal, but still, with enchanting, I want as much EXP as possible.
3.) Every world now has a nether fortress but Nether Wart(maybe the spawners) are still not spawning 100% on world generation. Saw this in a map I explored for someone else. Looks like the Fortress spawned by due to placement of the fortress or the dimensions or whatever allowed, the fortress got cut off and the sections of the fortress that would hold nether wart were just no there.
4.) Some lag upon start up of world. When I load my world I can't use the crafting table immediately upon loading of world, usually takes about 5-10 seconds for the game to realize I'm trying to use the crafting table. This one doesn't bother me at all, just thought I'd mention it.
EDIT: Just want to say thank you to 4j for all their constant updates though as well, AMAZING job getting these all out so fast!

#2 is not a bug. The amount earned from mining ore is random within a range, and I know for coal the range starts at 0, so it is possible not to get any from some of the blocks. Not 100% sure about other ores.

Animals still disappear even after the update. It's actually worser now than it was before the update.
Example if you put animals in a fence of 5x5 and go to another side of the map and come back they are gone when you return. This happen to me on a old map from when the game was first launch. So I don't know if this happens on newer maps.
They also disappear out the minecarts if you go to a different part of the map.
Have you tried building a new portal? Mine is still freezing, but when I built a new portal I was able to get in that and then, when I died, I was able to get in the old portal again.
Sadly, when I exited the game without saving and came back in, the old portal went back to freezing.
I'd run with the new portal, but I've spent quite a bit of time building a structure around the original one . . . would kind of like to keep that one running. :/
On a side note, I've got a wall of cobblestone two squares away from my Portal in the Nether . . . I wonder if it's "too close" and that is somehow messing it up?

I had the same problem today, I made a farm and wanted to have like a collection of every dyed sheep. So im here gathering them one by one, making them mate, and dying them. I leave to explore some area far from my Home, come back, and like 3 disappeared. I'm all like D:
I have created a shaft from about Y=65 to Y=2.
If I cover the hole to prevent sunlight from coming in and then break the block, the upper-most part light up and then lower 50-ish act as if no light reached them.
Simply updating them or sometimes even going into them fixes this, but nonetheless.....

Yea when animals and even when villagers walk around it sounds like damage is being done to them. lol it does sound like bones breaking.
