I have been, for sometime now, been pondering a way to activate or deactivate a torch from above, from a source such as a lever or pressure pad. I have found myself with several bald spots from me going insane trying to find a way to deactivate the torch... without success. Is there any way to achieve this?
^^^ That. Or you could simply have the torch/plate connected to the block directly above the dust on top of the block which the torch is connected to. The torch will deactivate whenever it is triggered, so be sure to double invert if necessary.

To be honest, I don't know how OP didn't think of this... But, it varies from person to person.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
