As far as guns not fitting in or messing up the game, your not looking at it right because you should know that anytime there are changes made or add ons to a game everything gets looked at, reworked, or adjusted accordingly as needed so that the game still feels and behaves in the same way people like and are accustomed to.
These are ideas that not only fans want but will only help the game not hurt it.
The question I have is...Why? There are a gazillion other FPS games out there. Minecraft is refreshingly different because, in part, it refrains from being just another FPS game. It provides several puzzle-like challenges that are not at all about just killing each other or even the game's mobs. Why insist on "reworking" it just to make it become more like everything else out there?... just for the alleged thrill of simulating holding something that looks like a gun? I simply don't see the attraction.
Sees thread about guns; makes bet that OP is American.
Anyone with me on this one?
Whats that supposed to mean I'm an American and I don't want guns in Vanilla Minecraft. Don't make assumptions about other countries you know nothing about.

it would be nice to have like dual wield (i mean who does not want to hold to diamond swords simotanesley) or scythes or have like obsidian armor and weapons but since obsidian is hard to get have it use experience like 5 to 10 experience per obsidan armor or tool or weapon or somthing like that. but as far as guns maybe somthing like from the revoultionary war and then end the whole "guns in minecraft" thing.
True.
You should post this in the official requests thread, they might add and addition.
I don't agree with guns though. That would just be an addition to the violence of Minecraft, which isn't much. I like it that way...
I love the fact that there is little to no violence in this game. Reminds me of the games I played as a kid (Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong). I really don't care for violent games. Though GTA is fun, I couldn't care less.

I'm an American and on top of it, from Texas, this post makes me laugh. While yes I support guns in real life (though, frankly, I'm terrified of them), I don't want guns in this game.
I'm American, I don't want guns.
In fact, in my opinion, MC has gotten worse because with each update it has gotten away from what made it unique and different than other games (a sandbox game about mining and crafting).
I don't see the point or usefulness of killing another player. I know a lot of think that's the "fun" part, but to me MC should be more about co-operation than competition. I mean, I can see the point of killing NPC's (for drops), but each other? This is like playing COD but trying to kill off your own squad members.
And I agree with Up, Up's post above also. He gets it.
Iron ingot to eight iron nuggets. Furnace the nuggets for shot.
Wood plank + two iron bars + flint + two sticks + one leather = muzzle loading flintlock rifle. Must have gunpowder and shot on you. One gunpowder is enough for four shots.
Not terribly accurate, but one shot kill anything. Weapon breaks I two stages: flit wears out, then the gun itself will break. Need an anvil to repair flint.
Slash up enemies at medium range! Attach to certain blocks to swing around! Cause no damage to animals, but get ‘em the heck moving outta your way! Retrieve nearby items; even from other players’ hands!
Basically a stupidly good use for leather with no draw backs.
Draw back! It’s a whip joke!

Be careful what you say. Infinity Ward just might implement a tactical sword bayonet next game.
This. I would also want things like the equipment a miner has like a head flashlight and a grappling hook and rope.

I could live with this addition.
