What's up people, so here's my question; I'm not asking for an Island Seed, but by all means feel free to leave one below if your aware of one, but rather the seed generating in general.
How many seeds are there for survival island? The entire map would have to generally be nothing but OCEAN BIOMES to be considered survival island. Are there only a few seeds composed entirely of Ocean Biomes?
Kind of a loaded question. There are as many seeds as people have found. With the way seeds work there are roughly 4 billion different seeds possible if words only are used and 18 quintillion (18,000,000,000,000,000,000) if purely numbers are used.
50-50. You are more liable to find plenty of maps with Ocean biomes, however quite a few of those have a quite a mass plopped in it. I have seen island maps generate primarily with my luck or chances. For me to find a survival island type map is unlucky... As I do not play on those types of maps. I have come across more ocean maps than I care to count.
To come across the "perfect" island survival. There is just no such thing. Since everyone has their own idea of what that would be. However to come across tiny to small islands on a map, that is quite possible. More often than not when loading a ocean map you will end up having 1 or 2 biome types one either 1 or 2 islands it seems half the time. It would be tough to find the minimal things needed on an ocean map, since what I mentioned above.
The generation tends to be 50-50 in the generating an ocean map. Well at the moment it is. Now i am not saying that every other map will end up being an ocean map, what I am saying is half the maps I do create have more water than land. And too much for my taste. Some seem to generate a mainland with a speckle of smaller island way way off the coast to where you could not even see the mainland from those tiny/small island.
It is truly random what you will get, but does not seem like it at times. Trust me I have yet to find the map I am specifically looking for... But I continue on with the ones I did find that are at best acceptable...:D

Surely there must be a possible seed with so many options that is exactly what you want. How to find it would be a different question, however.

There are a few very good survival island seeds listed on the 1.8.2 MCXBLA Seeds List. Most of the ones described as "survival island" seeds do consist only of a few small islands (i.e. are ocean biomes). Some will spawn you on an island with a single tree and others will spawn you on a barren island and you have to swim to find an island with a tree on it. A couple of them do have a slightly larger islands of different biomes somewhere on the map... but still do not have anything that could be described as an abundance of trees. For example, "pizza" spawns you on are largish plains island with a village, but there is only one tree on that island or anywhere within view. There is even one seed, "Proud Larry" that has only a few very small islands and no trees at all. Since the 1.8.2 update, I have played on quite a few of the ones on the list and would consider them to generally meet the criteria you've posted (i.e. a majority of water with a few small islands plopped here and there). Some just play a little tougher than others.
