There are no public matches so to speak, all you can join/ play with are people on your friends list. There are threads on this forum for finding players, so you can add them to your friends list and play with new people
I didn't buy XBLA just for singleplayer, I wanted to play online with people as well.
How can I join random peoples servers?
Also a suggestion for Mojang:
Have kind of like an online thing like Black ops 2. Instead you would go to: Find public match.
And the matches would be like: Ultra Hardcore, Capture the Flag. Get my idea?
What USA007 said is correct. You can only play with people on your friends list.
Also, Mojang makes the PC edition. 4J Studios makes the Xbox edition; last I heard, they were looking into servers for just such a purpose, but I don't think it's priority one at the moment.

The other two that posted above have already answered your question, but I have a friendly suggestion.
Check out the Find Players sub-forum. There is always a constant flow of Hunger Games maps. You could even ask to find other's to play with for pretty much anything. Take a look around. Post a "what I'm looking for" to see if anyone responds to what you may be looking for.
yes when ur looking at which world u wanna play there should be names to the right click on it and click join game.if there is none then ur friends have it set to invite only or there is just no one playing at the time
