So several weeks back I made a skyblock 2.1
in the middle of an all water seed.
It came out great! It forced me to think
of ways to make a better cobblestone generator(5% burn rate),
a little efficient farming area, fishing area and
learned about the nuances of a mob spawn pad.
Heck! I even got a chicken to spawn up there all by itself..
I dreamt of a city in the sky!..... Then I got bored :-/
Limited resources I think were to blame for the downfall of
my sky city, mainly Dirt. I had all the cobblestone/stone
I needed. A good amount of wood/fuel, but not enough dirt for
what I deemed a proper city.
I could have survived up there for decades, but after I got
all settled in I lost all interest in it...
Am I going about it wrong? Is there a point where I should go
get resources from groundlevel(underwater) and is that cheating?
What Can I do to keep my SkyBlock interesting?
Just looking for some feedback... or Ideas in regards to SkyBlock.
I'm thinking when "Hardcore" mode comes on it might give it more
of a purpose. But yeah, what do you guys think?

I would think going and mining underwater for supplies would give you the chance to make your sky block more aesthetically pleasing with rare minerals, and also if you find a mineshaft with melon/pumpkin seeds, u can improve farming.
What is the seed for the all water map? I would like to make a floating map/ maybe a boat

I'll get you the seed in a couple hours. There were tiny tiny islands I blew up with TNT. But its pretty much all water.
And I started the map on creative to be able to build the set up and the needed items (melon seeds). But it's the dirt or lack of it, that's tempting me to go land/underwater to get more resources.. But then.. that's not really SkyBlock anymore.

Why dirt? I would build a city out of stone or something other than dirt, maybe wood. Do you need more of it for farming? Or to grow trees?
Yeah for both of those reasons. See normal skyblock is supposed to be held above the void from my understanding, which under normal circumstances would mean there are no addlt resources available to the player.. and I'm not aware of a dirt generator (that works anymore). :-/

i am actually planning of making a world in the sky. im using a flat land. i have alot of ppl who help clear the whole map. after its cleared i shall make the sky map. or at least clear enough where you can see the grass from how far it is i might fill the ground with lava so when people fall they wont be stuck down thereyou are doing this for the xbox right if so i would love to add you. so we can work together

Yeah That'd Be sweet and the ground would be best covered in lava or water, so that the mobs can spawn in the sky as opposed to on land and preferably lava so that the passive ones can also spawn up high, I got 2 chickens to spawn in my skyblock but there is def not enough dirt/grass under the normal skyblock set up any real kind of passive mob spawning.

Isn't the original idea of SkyBlock that there isn't a 'ground' or underwater for you to fall down to and gather resources, so technically it would be cheating and well going outside the box (or Skybox) in terms of what SkyBlock's normally about I know its different on the Xbox360 Edition because of the fact you can't generate a world without any land layers in it, or well in terms of having a world without a bedrock layer so that you just have a bottomless void like you would when doing it on the PC haha!
Haven't tried SkyBlock yet myself on the Xbox360 Edition, but might be cool for something to do at first until I run out of things to do with it... pretty much like you have!
Yeah I hate cheating! lol so im trying to stay within the confines of the skyblock... but yeah It is fun! and I was quite proud of my skyblock.. until I hit that "what to do next" wall. Also I Don't recommend doing it above water. Because I did fall off once and the water saved me from dying. So If it had been land I would of had to re-load the save and lost progress or! re spawned and had my items inaccessible to me. So I semi cheated .. Not on purpose though! :-D

Yeah I got a bed(from spiders), But I mean I would of re spawned to the skyblock with all of my items on the ground where I couldn't get to them. I like it it's fun, it just seems like its missing something....

lava at the bottom so when you reach the edge of the world all you see is a sea of lava.i have a backstory to my world kinda. basically the world had a problem and it was filled with lava. so to survive the survivors had to build in the sky.

i remember that seed a few ppl talked about it. sound horrible as a survival seed

problem will be the spawning though :-/ People will probably spawn in lava.
